Car History
The early 60's saw the rise of drag-strips and circle track racing
and American auto manufacturers were finding out that the more
cubic inches and pure horsepower they could put is muscle cars, the
more they would win on the racetrack and the street, hence the more
of these cars they could sell.
Fords answer to the formidable competition from all the other auto
makers was the big block 390 and 427 Galaxies. The1964 was the
fourth and final year of this body style. Interior trim was
altered, and the exterior featured a more sculpted look which was
designed to make the car more aerodynamic for NASCAR. Often
overlooked, the 390 "Police Special" engine gives this 1964 Galaxie
500XL staying power. Full size Fords were completely redone in
1964. They were recognizable because of their large, round
taillights. All models using optional FE Series V-8s had the engine
designation logo on the lower front fender.

Our 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 has the original big block 390 cubic inch
engine under the hood 4-Speed, topped by a single 4-barrel
carburetor with the correct gold painted air cleaner system,
Thunderbird logo gold factory valve covers, factory cast iron
exhaust headers, power brakes, modified electronics.
It sits in a very period correct clean, painted, and detailed
engine compartment with all the factory decals, and the FoMoCo
windshield washer bag.
The 4-Speed manages the big block's horsepower and out the H.D.
rear. The undercarriage has dual exhaust, H.D. suspension and rides
on the original correct chrome factory wire wheel covers and
whitewall tires that give it that period look.
Interior
The Red is equally nice with the 50/50 split bench seat and the
rear seat matching, and all clean and including the red carpets and
floormats, chrome-accented red door panel, factory deep-dish red
steering wheel, red dash with the factory gauges, radio, nice
stainless, heater, red padded dash and visors, and red
seatbelts.
Exterior
Our Ford is painted in Raven Black and looks as amazing as it was
back in 1964.
The body panels look straight and the doors close solid, the chrome
and stainless trim is shiny, and the factory 390 emblems on the
front fenders lets you know to think twice about pulling up
alongside it at a stop light and taking off! Open the trunk and you
will see the nice factory grey mat, spare tire, wheel, and the
floor jack.
