Vehicle Description
Gateway Classic Cars of Tampa is proud to offer this sleek 1987
Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. At the inception of the Ford
Thunderbird in the mid 1950s, this hot new car from Ford was a two
seat sport car that rivaled the Corvette. After the short run of
"Baby Birds" the decision was made to reengineer the Thunderbird
into more of a personal luxury car. Nearly three decades would pass
before any thunder and performance returned to the model with the
introduction of the Turbo Coupe. "The 1987 Ford Thunderbird Turbo
Coupe was a fresh take on American-made cars with a focus on
drivability and technological advancements. It was a sleeker car
and was a bold new direction for the Thunderbird nameplate."
(Hotcars.com) The Turbo Coupe featured a 2.3l 4-cylinder engine
that produced 190hp which was only 30hp less than the 5.0l
Mustangs. This highly optioned black bird can be enjoyed as a daily
driver or a weekend toy.
