V8 producing 330 bhpThe De Tomaso Longchamp, introduced in 1972, is
a remarkable blend of Italian style and American muscle, crafted by
the visionary Alejandro de Tomaso. With its sleek, angular design
and luxurious interior, the Longchamp quickly captured the
attention of car enthusiasts worldwide. By the mid-1970s, the
Longchamp featured a robust 5.8-liter V8 engine sourced from Ford,
producing an impressive 330 horsepower, and allowing it to achieve
a top speed of around 149 mph. This grand tourer combined high
performance with comfort, boasting a well-appointed cabin with
leather seats and advanced instrumentation. The De Tomaso Longchamp
embodies a unique chapter in automotive history, merging
performance, elegance, and exclusivity. Owning this rare classic
means embracing the legacy of a car that not only stands out for
its distinctive design but also for its exceptional driving
experience and pedigree. With only 417 Longchamps produced, you
will not easily come across another one.Introducing our 1980
Longchamp. An absolutely stunning example which we found in Italy
in beautifully restored condition. She was originally delivered in
Italy, where she stayed her whole life. The documents that come
with her are very unique. She comes with the original written order
form, original invoice, internal factory notes, delivery notes,
etc. And all of the original papers, no copies. This gives you a
great insight into how she was born. She was optioned with options
such as a Blaupunkt radio, air conditioning, electronic ignition,
electric mirrors, red tail lights, etc.Finished in this classy 2
tone paint scheme with Grigio Ferro for the bottom part and Argento
metallic for the top part. Looking at the transition line you can
tell to which extent she was restored. Restoration of such a rare
vehicle is no easy feat but the previous owner has done just that.
The quality of the paintwork is very good and this transitions
throughout the Longchamp. Our favorite way of restoring is leaving
certain details all original and that is what has happened here.
Such as the interior trim for the most part. You cannot get the
same feeling with replacing everything with new parts. The seats
are still covered in their original brown leather which is in
amazing condition. The Blaupunkt radio is there for those long
roadtrips and the sound of the V8 engine once you get to the
mountains.Speaking of her V8 engine, she is the original 5.8L V8
engine which is in excellent condition. This is the heart of the
beast and gives her even more character. Mated to this V8 engine is
a smooth shifting 3 speed automatic gearbox. And if you shift her
manually, she really comes alive. Her suspension, brakes, cooling
system have all been overhauled to the highest level and are ready
for many more fun miles.
