For Sale: 2012 Ford Mustang in Ocala, Florida

Vehicle Description

Racing improves the breed, or so the mantra goes in the automotive world. Ford's Lee Iacocca believed this, and he enlisted the help of Carrol Shelby in late 1964 to give his newly introduced Mustang a racier image. Shelby agreed to help, and Shelby American's Venice, CA facility began receiving incomplete Mustangs from Ford's San Jose assembly plant and worked Shelby magic to turn them from ordinary GT models into the new Shelby GT350. This conversion was not merely tape stripes and wheels, the GT350 was a complete competition package with modifications to the engine, suspension, brakes, and body. The 65' GT350 was a thoroughbred of a Mustang that was just at home on the track as it was in the street, and the results showed with a GT350 taking the 65' B Production SCCA championship. Fast forward some forty-seven odd years into the future and ol' Shelby was at it again, producing a new breed of modern GT350s based off the then new SN197 Mustang platform. Once again, Shelby American (now based in Las Vegas, NV) would receive production Mustang GTs fresh off the line at Ford's Flat Rock assembly plant and convert them into street legal race cars with a warranty, well, unless you got the BIG supercharger. The 2012 GT350 convertible for sale here just so happens to be one of those GT350s where caution (and the warranty) was thrown to the wind in the pursuit of the utmost in tire shredding horsepower. To that end, this GT350 was ordered with the optional Shelby/Ford Racing/Whipple supercharger that takes the 5.0L Coyote V8 from the standard 412 horsepower to a whopping 624 thoroughbred angry horses. The only transmission available with this brutal engine spec was the 6-speed manual, and this particular GT350 is optioned with the 3.73 rear gears for lightning quick 0-60 and quarter mile sprints. While the standard GT350 package from Shelby was a comprehensive and complete upgrade, this convertible received a number of Shelby optional upgrades. These include the aforementioned supercharger unit ($1,500), Shelby/Wilwood brake kit ($2,995), Interior Package ($2,995), Shelby High Performance Cooling Package (you guessed it, $2,995), Partial Painted Racing Stripes ($4,995) and the bargain priced rear 3.73 gear set at only $925. All these options ($16,405), combined with the costs of the base vehicle ($42,960), the Shelby GT350 package ($33,995) make for a $93,360 total price in 2012 dollars!! That would be just a shade over $125,000 in today's money. Combine this astronomical price with the limited production of only 132 units in 2012, and only 414 units over the 2011-2014 lifespan of the GT350, and this GT350 convertible is a screaming bargain in the collector car world. This GT350 is a collector's dream come true. The perfect specification of color combination, extreme performance, and complete documentation. On consignment from the original owner with a clean Carfax and only 4,600 miles, this GT350 is the one to buy. Not many people can say they have a Christmas Card from Shelby American, but you can once you take the keys to this GT350. Contact Brian at 352-307-1968 and put this Mustang in your stable today!
