1927 Pur Sang Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix For Sale - Hand Crafted,
One Owner, Never Driven! LMC is very proud to offer for sale this
1927 Pur Sang Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix A small company in
Argentina, filled with incredible craftsmen called Pur Sang builds
truly extraordinary copies of vintage Bugattis and Alfa Romeos with
every exacting detail and engineering equal to the originals. Each
is carefully factory built, with all components produced in Pur
Sang's own facility, and is designed as not merely a replica but a
literal "new" car that is true to the original in every important
sense. The company is most famous for their Bugatti Type 35, which
is visually near-identical to, and has the same performance,
exhaust note, and thrilling driving characteristics as the original
Molsheim-built cars. Ettore Bugatti's diminutive masterpiece racked
up nearly 2000 victories in the late 1920s, making it arguably the
most successful racing car of all time. Type 35s won the Targa
Florio road race in Sicily five times in a row, and the Monaco
Grand Prix twice. Excepting the success of Bentleys at Le Mans in
the same period, Bugattis dominated racing until arrival of the
Vittoria Jano-engineered Alfa Romeos. The Type 35 Pur Sang reveals
the skill and passion of its creators with hand formed all-alloy,
superbly finished to a high standard, and includes mudguards for
road use. The cockpit features supple tan leather, which is sure to
wear in like a favorite pair of gloves as you pile on the miles.
Evocative period details include Marchal headlamps, a Boyce
Motometer, and leather straps tying down the bonnet and
side-mounted spare wheel. Ettore Bugatti's distinctive 8-spoke
alloy wheels are faithfully reproduced in cast aluminum and
incorporate the brake drums as original - a clever solution to
address brake wear during grueling endurance races. The wheels are
wrapped with period block-tread Excelsior tires to ensure an
authentic look and handling characteristics. In the snug two-place
cockpit, the driver is met with just the bare necessities for
piloting a Grand Prix-bred machine - just a tach, oil and fuel
pressure gauges, and a clock. The snarling 2.3-liter inline-eight
evokes images of French motor racing heroes like Louis Chiron and
Helle Nice sliding their Type 35s by the scruff around the dusty
circuits of Europe. With overhead cams and a centrifugal
supercharger, these featherweight cars made upward of 130
horsepower in their time, and with the improved internals and
materials used by Pur Sang Argentina, the output is undoubtedly
higher. That power is sent rearward via a 4-speed manual gearbox
with a reverse H-pattern change. This Type 35 offered here is
finished in a beautiful shade of dark blue with a complementing tan
leather seat upholstery. In addition, the Grand Prix was specified
with full road equipment, including cycle fenders, Marchal
headlights, Scintilla tail lights, and tiny, very cleverly
concealed turn signals, ideal for actual use on modern roads.
Having never been used, this example remains in showroom new
condition. The Pur Sang Bugatti, simply put, offers the best of all
possible worlds-the exact experience of using a great vintage
Bugatti, but with improved durability and ease of maintenance.
