pace car for the 1998 running of the Indianapolis 500. Painted in
Pace Car Purple Metallic with yellow and red accents throughout.
Powered by a 5.7-liter LS1 V8 that was rated at 345 horsepower when
new, and power is sent to the rear wheels through a T56 6-speed
manual w/ self-adjusting hydraulic clutch. The interior of the Pace
Car Pkg included upgraded Radio, Yellow accented leather seats with
Pace Car embroidery throughout. Corvette-branded instrumentation
consists of a 200-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 6k-rpm
redline, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage,
and fuel level. The car is equipped with the Active Handling
Package, four-wheel independent suspension, and four-wheel disc
brakes. Other options on this Pace Car include power-adjustable
sport seats, dual-zone climate control, a Delco AM/FM/CD stereo,
Bose audio, and embroidered Indianapolis 500 floor mats. These Pace
