The Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 is a sports car produced by the Italian car manufacturer Ferrari from 1964 to 1967. It was built in two series, which differed mainly in the headlight clusters. In the first, produced from 1964 to 1965, there were four, while in the second, produced from 1965 to 1967, there were only two. The first series was presented at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1964, and replaced the 250 GT 2+2. It was designed by Pininfarina who studied a model with a wheelbase 50 mm longer and with more space for rear passengers. The second series was launched in mid-1965 with a totally new front end, which made it resemble the 275 GTS. The rims were modified and from a spoked structure, peculiar to Ferraris of the time, they became perforated. Changes were also made to the air vents, interior and air conditioning was added. 625 examples of the first series and 474 of the second were built. With this model there was the definitive consecration of the 2+2 versions. It was replaced by the 365 2+2. The engine was a 60° V12 mounted frontally, longitudinally and with a displacement of 3967.44 cm³. The bore and stroke were 77 mm and 71 mm respectively, with the spark plugs positioned externally to the V of the engine. The compression ratio was 8.8:1. The engine design was inspired by Gioachino Colombo's "short block" engine, but was slightly longer. This modification was made necessary due to the greater space existing between the cylinders, created to accommodate the increased water ducts, which were essential to ensure adequate cooling of the barrels. The latter had in fact been redesigned as a consequence of the increase in bore. The power delivered by the engine was 300 HP at 6600 rpm. The distribution was single camshaft with two valves per cylinder. Power was provided by three Weber double-barrel carburettors, model 40 DCZ/6 or 40 DFI. The ignition was single and was made up of two coils with distributors positioned in the rear part of the engine and two distributors. Lubrication was wet sump. The interior, the chassis was the typical one used by Ferraris of the time, i.e. a main structure with an ovoid section and with reinforcement crosspieces, and another auxiliary architecture which served to support the bodywork and accessories. All components were made of steel. The front suspension was independent, with transverse wishbones and a stabilizer bar. The rear ones were formed by a rigid axle with longitudinal leaf springs and double lateral struts. Both were fitted with telescopic shock absorbers and coil springs, the latter coaxial with the shock absorbers themselves on the rear suspension. The steering was by worm screw and toothed sector; during marketing the power steering was available as an option. The gearbox was initially with four synchronized ratios, with the fourth gear with overdrive; the last examples produced of the first series and those of the second were equipped with five synchronized ratios. When there was the change from four to five ratios, there was the transition from a mechanically controlled single-plate clutch to a hydraulically controlled one. The brakes were disc brakes with split hydraulic systems. The maximum speed reached by the vehicle was 245 km/h.
