1995 Ford F150 XLT 4X4 Long Bed Pickup
For the ninth generation of F150 trucks, Ford offered a number of
trim levels. The XLT added a black rubber strip to the bumpers, a
chrome grille, deep dish aluminum wheels, carpeted map pockets, an
AM/FM stereo with digital clock, and a cloth and vinyl seat.
For consignment, a 1995 Ford F150 XLT 4x4 that comes with a Western
unimount 7 � foot plow and rocking the 5.0 liter V8. She's overall
clean but has some patina, but this is a work truck, not a show
truck, and has lots of love to give. Used only for personal use,
this is a 30 year old truck that's far from worn out. Ford Built
Tough with a mere 98,484 titleverified actualmiles on the
odometer.
Exterior
Two stage gray paint is sandwiched between layers of black creating
three levels of color in classic truck configuration, and the gray
is complemented by a triple white stripe along the top of the
waistline. The tall truck has the plow mount at the ready, and the
chrome grille provides gaping inlets for cooling aided by the
intake ducts in the front bumper. A standard cab fronts a long bed
which has a tonneau but for now, the 7.5 foot plow blade fits
perfectly in the bed. Straight panels and great chrome adorn this
rig, and a tow hitch is ready for service out back. Big chrome side
mirrors and polished 15-inch wheels add even more sparkle to this
black and gray giant which has an untinted rear sliding window.
Imperfections include some rust at the top of the wheel opening
arch, more on the fender, and some at the cab corner. Also, some
scratches that run widthwise across the hood.
Interior
Gray molded plastic doors look good with just the slightest of wear
and some discoloration, but fully intact, including those carpeted
map pockets which can hold a whole lot more. A cloth bench wears a
pair of headrests and a pulldown armrest which otherwise tucks into
the back to allow a third person to belt in. There's some
compression to the driver's side and a small hole but otherwise in
great condition. The black steering wheel and simple, black faced
gauge cluster all look good, beautiful in its simplicity, even if a
bit dusty. A controller for the plow is loosely mounted on the dash
and a wid, molded dash extends out to the passenger side and shows
a few cracks. An AM/FM/CD Pioneer radio is in the center above
basic climate controls. An AutoMeter tachometer is mounted under
the dash and canted toward the driver and gray carpet covers the
floor, showing some usage. The gray padded headliner is smooth and
clean.
Drivetrain
Under the hood and fairly high up, is the 5.0 liter V8 with the
familiar intake manifold from the period along with twin air hoses
into the throttle body. Driver conditions, as expected in this
engine bay where 195 horsepower is generated via fuel injection,
and backed by the AODE 4-speed automatic transmission. Power is
sent to the 8.8 inch rear axle with 3.55 gears and the front Dana
44 axle with the same ratio. Power disc brakes are in front, power
drums in the rear.
Undercarriage
This truck has seen its share of snow and as a result, surface rust
is the dominant color underneath. The frame, driveshaft, and many
other parts have it and some of it is pitted, but we're not seeing
invasive rust except on the edge of bodywork by the cab corner.
Suspension consists of radius arm and coil springs up front with
leaf springs in the back.
Drive-Ability
We climb up to the tree house and overlook all of Morgantown, or at
least our test loop, from the roomy cab. The reliable 5.Oh cranks
right up thanks to EFI and we barrel along with decent power and
torque. As often the case with this era and younger F150's, all the
bells and whistles work as intended. While Classic Auto Mall
represents that these functions were working at the time of our
test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at
the time of your purchase.
Whether you need to plow your driveway or want to start a side
hustle in winter, this truck has you covered. It also has an
original towing capacity of 7,500 pounds, so that opens up some
doors as well. This XLT is a grunt worker and still looks good
inside and out. If you're in the market, an F150 with a snow plow
will give you peace of mind. Plus, it's a darn good ride in the
other three seasons!
