Vehicle Description
959 Edsel Ranger 2 Door Hardtop was purchased new in Richmond, VA
at Meyer Edsel (building still standing today). The car has always
been garaged and cared for since. A bit later in the car's life, it
was owned by a wonderful gentleman in the Edsel Club who enjoyed
driving it to car shows where the car won many trophies/awards.
That gentleman passed on about 8 years ago. We acquired the car
from his son, who was keeping it in a storage unit the last couple
of years, wasn't driving it as much as the car deserved, and
therefore made the decision it was time to re-home it to a good
Edsel home. This is an all numbers matching car with the original
colors of Redwood Metallic and Desert Tan. The car has some great
options and accessories. The 361ci "Super Express" V8 (303 HP)
engine with the three speed "Dual Power" automatic transmission,
power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, driver spotlight,
Town & Country Radio, day and night mirror, spinner hubcaps, inside
trunk release handle, electric wipers, back-up lights, a traffic
light viewer, and a very cool set of cruiser skirts. The odometer
says 26,326 miles, but it shows as 'exempt' on the title. I believe
the car was re-painted in the past, but that the
interior/upholstery could be factory original. There are some
nit-picky scratches and flaws, most of which most have been touched
up here and there, but it's a great looking and solid car overall!
The car has been driven semi-regularly as of late and some
maintenance has been done in the last couple of years to ensure
reliable cruising. The original A/C will need some TLC to work
again. I was told it hasn't worked in years, I don't know what it
needs, but the compressor is still running on the belt (it's a
great conversation piece as is). The radio makes sounds like a UFO
after it warms up and turns on, but I cannot get any stations here.
It has an older AM/FM cassette in the glove box, but I am not sure
how to turn it on or if it works.
