Vehicle Description
1941 Chevrolet Custom Coupe
The Special Deluxe trim level was introduced by Chevrolet in the
1940s and was produced until 1952. This was an interesting era for
all automakers with the quick approaching US involvement in WW2
which would ultimately put a stop to the production of cars and
trucks. Due to this, the look of the pre-war cars and those made
just a short time after had some similarities but were rapidly
changing. This was also the first time period in which classic
truck designs became their own thing and were no longer based on on
their passenger car counterpart. This very cool 1941 Chevrolet
Special Deluxe is a business coupe model and has undergone a very
high end custom build. We are selling this car on behalf of the
builder who completed a frame off restoration around 2004. Prior to
the build they acquired the car in 1964 and got it from family. In
fact, since new this car has been under the care and custody of 1
family which is pretty impressive when you consider that is 83
years. That means from when it left the Flint, Michigan plant in
October 1940 and was sold out of Canton, Ohio to head South its
whereabouts have been known. The body of the car is is all steel
but the rear fenders are fiberglass. It is totally rust and bondo
free. It is painted in a Toreader Red metallic 2 stage paint which
has a very nice shine and finish. Along the sides custom two tone
Violet and Red graphics run the length of the body line framed in
custom pinstriping. The exterior has been clean shaven of any
bumpers and a lot of the stock trim except for what is on the hood
sides. The headlights have been modified with painted rings for a
frenched in look and the taillight assembly feature the old school
Blue dots. The glass is all in good condition, tinted, and the
windshield is the original style two piece design. The wheels are
vintage custom Eagle Alloys with painted to match center logo.
Those are then wrapped with Radar Dimax AS-8 16inch tires that are
new.
We skipped over them talking about the exterior but now that we are
discussing the mechanical features we can't fail to mention the
custom tuned headers into the dual side exhaust. They not only
deliver a great sound but also add a toughness to the over all
look. Moving onto the hood you will find that looks can be
deceiving because this one has a fully custom all steel tilt front
end on an actuator so opening it is all automated. It slides
forward, then tilts up for the big reveal to show off the small
block Corvette 327 motor that runs and looks great. It has been
fitted with tons of chrome, custom covers, a Shotgun scoop air
cleaner, an Edelbrock high rise dual quad intake, dual 500cfm
Edelbrock carburetors, a slight cam, HEI ignition and Jegs wires.
It runs great and during the rebuild received all new pistons,
rods, rings, bearings and a valve job. It is all ready to go and
starts right up. It runs cool with an aftermarket radiator and
custom fabricated shroud. The motor is combined with a Borg Warner
5 speed that shifts smoothly and sends power back to the 7.5 inch
Ford limited slip rear end with 4:10 gears. At 70mph the car is
running at just under 2,000 RPM. The front suspension is a modified
set up and the car has four wheel disc brakes.
Inside, the car features all custom leather two tone Gray that is
in excellent condition. It has dual bucket seats with a custom
built center console. The console provides extra storage space,
cupholders, and houses the emergency brake handle and the Hurst
shifter. Being a business coupe it doesn't have your typical back
seat but that area has all been nicely upholstered for a clean look
and is where you will find the rear stereo speakers to each side of
a custom Bowtie insert. The door panels have custom upholstery as
well and have chrome handles with custom arm rests. The dash has
custom billet trim that was inspired by the original. On that is
mounted all Dakota Digital gauges and a custom AM/FM/CD player. The
tilt steering column is painted to match the body and topped off
with a custom aftermarket steering wheel. It also has a Sunpro
Super Tach III tachometer with a shift light. The trunk of these
cars provide a ton of extra storage space and this one has all been
finished out nicely.
This is the type of car that when you look it over with a close
eye, the amount of hard detailed work that has been poured into it
become very clear. It runs/drives great but also has a unique
combination of customizations to really make it stand out.
