1958 OLDSMOBILE SUPER 88 CONVERTIBLE, LOADED, LOADED CAR.
This cool and rare 1958 Olds S88 convertible was sent from Oklahoma to a restoration shop in Canada where they specialized in restoring late 50's cars. But before they got very far on the restoration I bought the car and brought it to Arizona, around 10 years ago.
I was told that the engine and transmission were freshly rebuilt when I bought it, that makes sense since the front fenders and inner fender panels were taken off the car. And looking at the engine it is evident that it has been taken apart, cleaned and painted and there's no sign that the engine has been ran at all. After the few years of storage it is now dusty though.
After bringing it to Arizona I did some work and bought a few parts that were missing.
I had the car running and moving back and forth in the shop. I was thinking I'd just make it into a fun driver for now and restore it later when I had more time.
But after I lost the lease on the big building we were working out of and we moved to a smaller building the Oldsmobile went into storage and it has been sitting in storage for a few years here in dry Arizona.
As you can see it is a project but it is one hell of a great project.
The car has most, not all but most of the options you could get on a 1958 Oldsmobile,
PS, PB, PW, P-seat, Factory AC, tinted glass, J2 tri power, there's a transportable radio, no base for it etc.
The Tri power air cleaner has been media blasted, primered and painted and it has a new J2 decal..
The body is good to excellent, The trunk floor is excellent including the spare tire well.
The pot metal chrome is also good, it is original from 1958 so it is not like new but really good still. The car is around 98%-99% complete.
The convertible top frame is in excellent condition, just needing paint.
The original color is the pink you can see in my pictures.
I think it would be hard if not impossible to find a better 1958 Oldsmobile convertible project car!
The interior and convertible top are completely dried up.
I don't think it would take much to put it back on the road again.
I just decided to put it up for sale and if it does not sell I'll put a cover over it and let it sit until I have time to work on it again.
With nice 1958 Oldsmobile convertibles going for over $100.000 to over $200.000 this car is a rare one at a great price!
I will sell worldwide, export is never a problem.
