About the model
The first generation of Ford Bronco was introduced for the 1966 model year. This first generation of Bronco was offered as a four-wheel drive compact SUV. Initially, three main body styles were available, SUV, pickup, and open top roadster, but due to slow sales, the roadster was discontinued after 1968, and the pickup was discontinued after 1972. The first generation Bronco was fitted with two inline six (2.8L, 3.3L) and two V8 (4.7L, 5.0L) engine options. The most notable early Broncos were the Sport option package and top-of-the-line Ranger trim level. Production of the first generation Bronco lasted until 1977, when it was replaced by the Second Generation Ford Bronco.
