For Sale: 1989 Ford Mustang in Lithia Springs, Georgia

Vehicle Description

In the long and storied history of the Ford Mustang, there have been quite a few specialty models collectors tend to seek out. With that said, the name Saleen has come to elicit a level of excitement from both onlookers and enthusiasts, and for good reason. One look at this 1989 Ford Mustang Saleen #720 we have for you today, and you'll understand why. Dressed in its original Oxford White paint, this 55,690-mile car still bears the same Saleen, Racecraft, and #720 decals it came with from its eponymous production facility.

Inside, the pewter/grey interior is a welcomed upgrade over the stock Mustang. A set of form-fitting Recaro-style FloFit sport seats hold both driver and passenger in place for any hot laps that might be on the horizon, while a 170-mph speedometer and Momo steering wheel provide plenty of feedback. And if the Saleen dash plaque isn't enough to convince passengers that this is no ordinary pony car, Steve's signature is in full view above the glove box.

Under the hood, we find a glorious rendition of Ford's fabled 5.0. In factory Saleen spec, this supercharged V-8 pumps out 292 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque, but this particular car has a dyno sheet that proves it is far superior to the original setup. This pony car is a full-on racehorse with 398 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque on tap. All that power is channeled through a five-speed manual transmission before heading out to the Ford 8.8-inch rear. Riding on a trick set of 17-inch OE polished Saleen wheels wrapped in 225/45ZR-17 front and wider 235/45ZR-17 rear rubber, this muscular Mustang looks as if it is flexing from any angle thanks to its aggressive stance courtesy of its lowered Eibach springs and Maximum Motorsports adjustable camber/caster plates up front.

With its shorty headers, BBK cross pipe, and classic FlowMaster exhaust, this 1989 Saleen Mustang #720 has an unforgettable growl that only a modified 5.0 can make. Mustangs of almost any kind are fun to drive and own, but once in a while, a vehicle that is just special comes along. This early low-mileage example of Steve Saleen's Mustang shows exactly why he and his company have carved out a legacy as the second-longest-running American-made production car, second only to the venerable Corvette. If you've never experienced a Saleen Mustang, maybe it's time, and this is your chance to own a true muscle car. Call today!
