Vehicle Description
Cruisin Classics is pleased to present to you this 1982 Chevrolet
Camaro Z/28 Indy 500 Pace Car Commemorative Edition. This 3rd gen
Z/28 is a low-mileage survivor with only 10,784 actual miles on the
odometer and it is turn-key ready to hit the road today! In 1982
the Z/28's differed from base Camaros with a unique nose, a 3-piece
rear spoiler, and front, side, and rear lower body valences.
Additionally, the Pace Car editions all came with a two-tone blue
and silver paint jobs, special lower-body striping that encircles
the car, Indy 500 graphics on the doors and B-pillars, lightweight
fiberglass SMC hoods with simulated vents, 15" cast aluminum silver
5-spoke wheels with red accent stripes, and silver blue interiors
with Lear Seigler manually adjustable seats. To say that these Pace
Cars were eye-catching is an understatement. This car comes to us
today looking completely bone stock with no changes, save for the
effects of time. The original paint is driver quality with some
light fading and a stone chip or two down low on the body. The Indy
decal kit now shows some peeling in spots and small imperfections,
but still has a ton of visual appeal. We have noticed that there is
evidence of a dent on the front passenger-side fender, but no
damage to the paint or decals in that spot. The front of this Z/28
looks great with dual side-by-side headlights set in deep black
pockets beneath the distinctive hood. Both sides of the car sport
color-keyed side mirrors as well as colorful Z/28 badges down low
on the fenders. One of the most exciting exterior features of this
Camaro are the glass t-tops that offer a whole different dimension
to the driving experience. Both the windshield and the hatchback
glass are adorned with "CAMARO" lettering just beneath the roof
line, further adding to the cool look. The afore-mentioned aluminum
wheels are perfectly accented by a set of white letter BF Goodrich
Radial T/A tires.
When you lift the hood, a light on the underside comes on to
illuminate the stock engine bay. The powerplant is the original 5.0
liter LG4 V-8 with 8.6:1 compression and a 4-barrel carburetor.
This V-8 is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission with
freeway-friendly 3.23:1 gears in the rear axle. Other highlights
under the hood include power steering, power brakes (disc/drum),
and working factory A/C.
Open the driver's door to reveal an inviting and original silver
and blue interior. The silver vinyl bucket seats feature blue cloth
inserts, blue piping, and an embroidered Z/28 logo on the headrest
of the drivers seat. The seats are in very good condition, they're
comfortable, and they have nice firm bolsters to hold you in place
during spirited driving. The rear seating consists of a bench back
with bucket bottoms done in the same fashion as the front. The
bench back does fold down, creating an exceptionally large storage
area in the hatchback. Between the bucket seats is a center console
with an armrest/storage box, a working analog clock, power window
buttons, a hatchback release, a leather-wrapped shifter for the
automatic transmission, an e-brake lever, and an ashtray. As the
console angles up to the dash there are easy to use climate
controls that crank out hot heat and cold A/C as well as a working
GM-Delco AM/FM stereo. At the top of the dash is a nice flat
crack-free black pad. The gauge cluster contains a speedometer,
tachometer, and gauges for temp, fuel, batter, and oil pressure.
Directly ahead of the driver is a leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering
wheel on a tilt column with a stalk for cruise control and the
intermittent wipers. On the driver door are controls for the power
locks and a toggle for the drivers side mirror. The floors are
covered in original blue carpet with blue rubber floormats keeping
it nice. Overhead is a blue felt headliner between and behind the
glass t-tops. Back in the hatchback is a factory t-top storage bag
as well as hold-downs to keep them from sliding around while
driving. This Z/28 also comes with an original owners manual,
maintenance schedule warranty booklets, a partial build sheet, and
an Indy 500 press kit with GM press releases, glossy 8X10 photos,
an event ticket, and an official event program!
Only 6,360 of these Z/28 Pace Cars were made back in '82 - making a
survivor with less than 11K miles like this one a rare find indeed!
This Camaro is ready to hop in and enjoy - ready for a car show, a
Sunday cruise, or a night on the town. One thing is for sure,
wherever you go you're going to turn heads and get thumbs up! Give
our friendly staff a call and put this beauty in your garage
