Vehicle Description
1976 Triumph TR6
The Triumph Motor Company was first founded in 1885 and originally
began producing motorcycles but in 1923 manufactured their first
car. The company went through a lot of changes over the years being
acquired by Leyland motors, then the British Leyland Specialist
Division until it became dormant under the Rover Group which is
currently owned by BMW. The TR6 is a sports car they manufactured
in England and although production began many months earlier it was
released in January for the 1969 model year. They were sold in the
UK but over 80K of the 91,850 produced by 1976 had been exported to
the US. They fed right into US market providing the go to vehicle
for those Americans wanting a small 2 seater sports car with the
British flair. This cool TR6 was produced in that very last year
and is a great driver. The car is painted in a Dark Green and wears
all of its original bumpers, trim and that TR6 British flag. It has
a Black cloth convertible top that is in good shape and it comes
with a Black boot cover that snaps into place. The car sits on its
original wheels with TR6 center caps and are wrapped with Michelin
tires.
All TR6s were sold with the Triumphs 2.5L straight 6 engine. It has
a pair of Stromberg Zenith carburetors and starts up well. It is
combined with a 4 speed manual transmission that shifts
smoothly.
The interior is all in good condition and done in Black. It has
stock bucket seats with headrests and 3 point seat belts. The dash
features its woodgrain trim which is in good condition. It is
topped with a lot of the original components but the gauges are a
mixture of Smith gauges and aftermarket iequus gauges. The trunk of
the car provides additional storage and houses the original
spare.
This is a neat classic sports car and based on its VIN it is within
the last 2,700 TR6's ever produced. It comes with a few extras like
various service manuals.
