1970 AMC Rebel Machine
This 1970 AMC Rebel Machine went through a rotisserie restoration
completed in 2020. Powered by a 390ci V8 mated to a T10 four-speed
manual transmission. Equipped with the correct block, heads and
carburetor. Finished in two-tone white and blue with tri-color
stripes over black upholstery. The 390ci V8 is equipped with an
Edelbrock 600-cfm carburetor fed by a ram-air intake. Exterior
details include red, white, and blue striping to go along with
chrome bumpers, quad headlights, "The Machine" decals, color-keyed
dual side mirrors, front vent windows, dual exhaust outlets, and a
functional ram-air hood scoop with an integral tachometer. Styled
15? steel wheels are mounted with Goodyear Polyglas GT E60-15
white-letter tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and
braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.
The black cabin is equipped with a split front bench seat featuring
button-tufted inserts and a fold-down center armrest with tri-color
accents. Appointments include a Hurst shifter, 120-mph speedometer,
analog clock, auxiliary gauges, "The Machine" dash logo, an
AMC-branded push-button AM/FM radio, lap belts, and outboard front
shoulder belts.
The AMC Rebel Machine was introduced in 1970 as a high-performance
version of the AMC Rebel. It was developed as a response to the
muscle car trend of the late 1960s and was intended to be a
competitor against other big names in the market like the Mustang
and Camaro. The 70 AMC Rebel Machine is a major collectible and a
rare one at that - with just 2,326 examples made.
