Vehicle Description
1967 GMC C15 Short Bed Flareside Pickup
"Flaresides/stepsides will have a narrower bed, but it's also a
perfect rectangle. They also don't have the humps associated with
the wheels. The bed's right angles led to some of the more iconic
styles of the '50s, like wood slatted bed floors. Because no modern
trucks have this look, it does emphasize the classic style of an
older truck, and you'll probably get lots of positive comments. The
dramatic fender flares also tend to attract praise." Thx

For consignment, a 1967 GMC C15 Flareside short bed pickup that's
been restored and is clean on the inside and out. You don't see too
many trucks of this era with ivory paint and that makes this
vehicle a standout. Fresh oil, a newer battery and tune, and some
brake work make this a turnkey show truck.
Exterior
Similar to the Capri Cream offered in 1967, this Ivory paint
provides of glimpse of what a new truck may have looked like in
1967, before it was enlisted to do the work of handymen, farmers,
mechanics, and others who, after long, wouldn't be concerned with
having a pristine truck, as long as it got the job done! Accented
in brown, the step of the flare side, the tailgate, and on the
wheels offers a unique paint configuration while the entire front
is covered in chrome from the bumper to the grille and the bezels
of the GMC double headlights. It's all in very nice condition, the
paint, the chrome, and the polished metal on the truck. The bed
shows equally as nice with perfectly glazed oak planks separated by
flawless aluminum rails and sidewalls that haven't seen a bale of
hay in a long time. The 15-inch steel wheels have deep polished
rings and polished hubs that look great and LED now illuminated the
taillights. Imperfections are limited to a scuff on the front
fascia on a top corner and a small surface scratch and paint chip
near the door seam at the bottom.
Interior
Cream and brown are brought onto the door panels with clean lines
and very nice paint and the window frames and gaskets are
excellent. The brown bench is dressed in a textured brown velour
with tan sides and in great shape while cream and brown dominate
the dashboard with a brown plastic gauge cluster and brown painted
glove box, each the same shape. The thin spoked brown steering
wheel and column shifter look fresh and the center GMC cap retains
just a pinch of patina. A vintage looking AM/FM radio is in the
center over vent controls and it's all presented in fantastically
clean condition. A fitted black rubberized mat covers the floor,
speakers are molded into the footwell walls, and the headliner is
glossy ivory paint with contrasting brown visors.
Drivetrain
We expected zero dirt and our expectations were met when we opened
the hood to reveal the 250ci inline 6 cylinder engine with a
1-barrel carburetor and rated at 155 horsepower. Its gleaming red
block contrasts with the mirror-like finish on the valve cover and
black wires. A 3-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear
axle which is a Dana 44 unit. The front and back are housing drum
brakes.
Undercarriage
No shocker here, the underside is show quality clean. Outside of
some surface rust on nuts and bolts, you could eat off the surfaces
underneath, from the painted frame and components, the bottom side
of the wood, to the drivetrain itself. Suspension is comprised of
coil springs up front and leaf springs in the rear while the single
exhaust flows into a stock style muffler then proceeds to exit the
undercarriage under the left step.
Drive-Ability
It's like we're driving it off the assembly line with not even dust
landing on the dash yet. The engine runs well, provides adequate
power with a pleasant rumble, braking works, and so do the few
gauges provided in the truck. Our streak is broken however when we
discover the brake and taillights are not functioning. While
Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at
the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions
will be working at the time of your purchase.
Here's one we would have no problem parking in our living room.
Yes, that's right, in the house! If you appreciate detailing and
want to maintain a spectacularly clean truck, start with this one.
Dust it off between car shows and drives and you'll be good to go.
The face of the early GMC trucks set it apart from the more
ubiquitous Chevy's and that's another reason to love this truck. I
wasn't hired to be a fortune teller but my crystal ball has been on
a roll lately and I'll say this one is not likely to last long at
the mall. Done reading? Make the call!
