Many forget the performance aspect of the Mercury brand in the
60's. They produced some iconic models that provided performance
and style with some extra flair to attract the more well healed
buyers. Unfortunately, their prices reflected that and it did not
allow the high sales volume to continue the growth of that segment.
A quick pivot to the luxury brand and large sedans became the road
map and the rest is history.
Proud to bring this 1965 Mercury Comet to the market with some very
nice tasteful upgrades. According to the trim tag it was originally
Deep Blue Metallic and just a 2DR Comet. At some point the color
was changed over to a lighter blue and added trim of the Caliente
to dress it up more and give it additional appeal.
This very clean and fun driving Comet was given a rebuilt 289ci V8
mated to a C4 Trans automatic with IDIDIT steering column, vintage
A/C, retro radio, new headliner, newer tires, wood steering wheel,
chrome hubcaps, and hood insulation.
This car remains in gorgeous condition with evident care and love
over the past decades. This Comet comes with a thick file folder of
recent receipts and documentation of the engine rebuild by
Hegelmann's American Muscle.
