From a British classic to a Caribbean icon, Moke has become the
"must-have" emblem of carefree chic. Originally intended for the
military it was later brought out for civilian use. This 1994 Mini
Moke Cagiva is one of the last "genuine" Mokes built, and was
freshly "recommissioned". Mokes were produced from 1964-93, first
in England, then in Australia and finally in Portugal. In 1990, the
Moke name and rights were sold to Cagiva, an Italian motorcycle
manufacturer. Production then continued in Portugal under the
Cagiva name until late 1994 and classic Moke production ended once
and for all. This example is powered by the MINI 998cc 4-cyl
engine, backed by a 4-spd manual trans and is driven by front wheel
drive. This example was discovered in Bari, Italy, in 2002 and was
subsequently imported to the U.S. Since then, this Moke has
undergone an extensive freshening that included flushing and
renewing all fluids, replacement of all rubber parts subject to
aging, including tires and a major tune-up, which included
rebuilding the SU carburetor and many other detail items. It
includes a new top and side curtains, and wait till you drive one!
Oh, sure, they're fun with flat, zappy cornering and the feeling of
speed thanks to the engine and your backside being just inches off
the ground, performance is actually quite leisurely and this Moke
is a dream. Imagine bipp'n around your summer spread in this little
guy! Life is short, enjoy your "ride!"
