Vehicle Description

This eye-catching 1928 Carousel Ferrari Horse Coin-Operated Children's Ride is a one-of-a-kind piece that draws a ton of attention. This horse is believed to be a C.W. Parker Carousel Horse from the 1920's. This example was discovered and restored by Jeff Russell of Big Boy Toys in Oklahoma. The restoration was completed and immediately purchased by MS CLASSIC CARS in February of 2024. It's been on display for the last couple of months. June of 2024 is the first time it's ever been listed for sale.

The word “Carousel” has been traced to 12th century Arabian games of horsemanship called “carosellos” or “little wars”. The games consisted of riders tossing a small perfumed clay ball from one rider to another. By the 16th century these games speared to France where the events were elaborated. People wore fancy costumes and engaged in tournaments of drama called “Carrousels”. Eventually the art form became more tactile, as artists began to sculpt crudely shaped horses. In the late 19th century American artists broke from European tradition. To the dashing horses, artists added the entire menagerie of elegant animals, often accompanied by flowers, bells, plump cherubs and flashing mirrors. Carousel wooden and cast aluminum horses are used on Merry-Go-Rounds and on rocking platforms.

This realistic looking piece is in show quality condition and in excellent working order. The original cast aluminum body was stripped, prepped and finished with automotive-grade paint. The horse was painted in deep black. The eyes, teeth and tongue were hand painted for a realistic appearance. The seat of the saddle was painted yellow. The remaining part of the saddle and bridle was painted green. The buckles and art work was hand painted for a realistic appearance. A Ferrari graphic was added to the horse on both sides and clear coated for a painted appearance. The black grab handle was outfitted with new chrome and black material grips.

The metal base was custom made for a unique appearance. The top, front and back was painted in black. The front was decorated with a Ferrari graphic which was clear coated for a painted appearance. The sides of the base were painted the Italian flag colors of green, white and red. The sides were also decorated with stainless Ferrari and 10 cent emblems. All of the original Carousel International mechanical, electrical and hydraulic parts were inspected including the 1/3 motor. A new 100 volt power cord was added. Red LED lights were also added to the sides that turn on while the machine is operating. A new sound box was installed that plays Italian music. The pole was modified to accommodate the Carousel Horse. This piece was outfitted with a new coin-mechanism box that starts with a dime. It was painted black and decorated with decals including the Big Boy Toys Limited. This is in excellent working order.

This piece of Automobilia is almost 100 years old. It's been completely restored to high standards. Vintage coin-operated children's rides are becoming highly collectable and make great conversation pieces. This is a great opportunity!
