For Sale: 1979 Chevrolet K-20 in Torrey, Utah

Vehicle Description

Vintage Classic Square Body that turns a lot of heads.

1979 Chevrolet Silverado K20.  3/4 Ton 4WD truck. Still has the original 400 ci block with 62k miles but we rebuilt it as shown about 7,500 miles ago.  It came stock with full-time 4WD (some people don't believe that, but it's true for that model and year.) However it has a transfer case and so we installed manual locking hubs which allows it to be operated in RWD. it has 2 opposing 20-gallon gas tanks with a simple electric switch to move from one to another.  We replaced the A/C unit with a "Vintage Air" system which works great but has a small freon leak. It needs to be recharged once a year.  It's now fuel injected so it starts a lot easier.  2 Door long bed.  The interior is all original, white and gray, and the seats have no cuts, flaws or stains. It has a Cruise Control knob but I never took the time to get it to operate.  It has the original AM/FM radio unit which works the same as it did 45 years ago--poorly.  I can send a video I made for a buddy a few months ago which shows a lot more.  Always stored in a garage.  Power Steering and brakes but manual windows.  However, they work just fine.  I've touched it up with some chrome trim which I hope you can see.  I'm into this truck much more than the selling price, but we keep it at our house in Southern Utah, near Capitol Reef National Park, and we don't go down there as often as we should. I feel like this truck needs a little more love than it's getting.

It's got a bed liner but the bed is in very good shape.  New chrome bumpers and upgraded front grille.  I've replaced a lot of the knobs and handles in the interior with chrome pieces.  I just installed a new heat shield and insulation under the hood and I was pleased to see how good the hood looked when I pulled off the old insulation.   The tranny is the original 3-speed automatic but it's also been overhauled recently, even though it was operating fine.  All of the lights, including interior, and running lights work perfectly but I've replaced some with LED's.  The 2-speed wipers work great.  I put in a locking truck box because this model doesn't have a lot of storage space. The tires have about 4,500 miles on them.

I'm not in a hurry to sell it but I really don't drive it much and I'm not into car shows.  As you can imagine, it would hold it's own at any car show or at your local square body rally.
