The epitome of Italian automotive excellence - the 1974 Ferrari
Dino 246 GTS, a car that transcends mere transportation to embody a
symphony of style, performance, and heritage. The 246 GTS made its
debut at the 1972 Geneva Motor Show which sparked immense
popularity because of the added advantage of a practical targa top
for open-air driving. With its striking Pininfarina curves and
unmistakable Scaglietti craftsmanship is embodied in the low-slung
profile and sleek retractable roof. Beneath the rear deck lies the
beating heart of Ferrari's racing pedigree, a transversely mounted,
2.4-liter V6 engine that delivers a symphony of power and
precision. With over 190 horsepower at your command, the Dino 246
GTS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds, effortlessly
blending exhilaration with refinement.
Named in honor of Enzo Ferrari's son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari, this
car represents more than just a vehicle-it embodies a legacy of
passion, innovation, and racing heritage. As one of Ferrari's most
beloved models, the Dino 246 GTS continues to captivate enthusiasts
and collectors worldwide, standing as a testament to the pursuit of
automotive perfection.
Between 1972 and 1974 1,274 Dino 246 GTS models were produced. The
concept of a small, lightweight, mid-engine sports car with a V6
engine at its heart was a milestone in the history of the brand.
The chassis is not only a pretty face, but also a good driving
machine by being well balanced and the weight perfectly distributed
thanks to the mid-mounted engine. Rare and revered, the 1974
Ferrari Dino 246 GTS offers a unique opportunity to own a piece of
automotive history. In a world where elegance meets performance,
the 1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS stands as a timeless symbol of
Italian craftsmanship and automotive passion.
This factory Chairs and Flares Dino was imported via Chinetta
Gathwaite Imports (The North American Importer) in July of 1974 and
sold via Orange Motors in Miami, FL (which is now the Collection).
It was born Grigio Argento (its present colors) over Pella Rossa
(its present colors) leather. This car has fastidious ownership
history and service records that go back to 1975 to its first
owner.
The service records on this car are second to none and document the
car's original mileage. This car was restored and certified with
its Ferrari Red Book in 2011 and awarded a Cavallino Platinum award
in January 2012. A copy of the factory build sheet was also
provided by Ferrari in 1995.
This car sat in a private collection after its Cavallino Platinum
Award before being acquired by us in the spring of 2024. We did a
full major service to the car, including all the mechanicals. We
went through the entire fuel system including the fuel lines and
carburetors, all new seals, all new fluids, brake hoses, and
correct reproduction Michelin tires. During our service we found
the current dashboard material to be incorrect so we removed the
dash and had the original mouse hair material installed on the
dash.
This car is accompanied by all of its original books, pouch, tool
kit, wheel chock, triangular emergency flares and flannel wiping
cloth. During the restoration, the original door panels were
replaced, and they were saved; these will also accompany the
car.
This is a true, "Investment Grade" factory Chairs and Flares
certified Dino.
