1961 Oldsmobile Starfire Convertible Oldsmobile bolstered its top
line coverage of the market with an offering in the personal luxury
category - the Starfire. This model was late coming to the Olds
lineup. It was not available until Jan. 1, 1961. It came as a
convertible, sharing its wheelbase with the Eight-Eight, and was
powered by a slightly more potent Rocket V-8. Stand equipment
included all items from the Super Eighty-Eight plus brushed
aluminum side panels, bucket seats, console, tachometer, power
seats and a special dual exhaust system. Upholstery was leather.
Standard tire size was 8.50 x 14 inches. Starfires were built only
in Lansing. Presenting a 1961 Starfire Convertible. Yes, stunning
is the word. Provincial White with a matching white convertible top
with red leather interior, just a gorgeous car. Restoration has
been done to the nines sometime ago and still presents well. Power
is derived from a 394 CI V-8 mated to a GM Hydra-Matic automatic
transmission, and just a pleasure to drive. All kinds of equipment,
including power steering, power brakes, power driver seat, power
windows and power convertible top. Also, a triple gauge set in a
custom housing located under the ashtray, a really nice touch.
Riding on a set of Coker classic white wall tires and the factory,
correct OEM wheel covers. Highly collectible, this one wont last
long.
