owners. Finished in its original color combination of Aubergine
with a Black interior. Rare 1972 outside oil fill, one year only
production. Recent cosmetic restoration, including paint and
upholstery, and it is in excellent condition inside and out. The
interior has been reupholstered in black vinyl with RS door panels,
a Momo steering wheel, and an AM/FM/Bluetooth radio has been
installed. The Targa top has been reupholstered in the correct
German material as well. Options include a 911S front spoiler with
bumperette delete, sugar scoop headlight buckets with H4
headlights, and a outside oil fill on the passenger's rear fender.
The Fuch alloy wheels are fitted to Pirelli CN36 Cinturato 185 70
15 tires. The undercarriage is solid and rust-free, with a front
oil cooler and an adjustable sway bar for the front and rear.
It was originally sold by Volkswagen North Central Distribution
Inc. in Deerfield, Illinois, on December 28, 1972. By 1978, the
Targa had traded hands to a local in Illinois, who had the 911 for
two years until eventually trading hands to the previous owner, Mr.
Friedrichs. Mr. Friedrichs drove the 911 from 1980-2000, aspired to
increase its performance, and began his journey to complete his
dream.
Mechanically powered by a twin-plug Carrera 3.0-liter flat-six
engine (Type 930/2) paired with a 915 5-speed manual transmission
and four-wheel disc braking system. Details of the build and
upgrades performed from 2011-2013: The engine was rebuilt by
Volkers German in Santee, California, and is a Carrera 3.0-liter
case and features a modified 964 oil pump, NCM crankshaft, JE
pistons and cylinders, SC heads, 49mm cam towers, upgraded Carrera
tensioner kit, Carrera 3.0 distributor, Billet adjustable oil
return tubes, and PMO 46mm carburetors. The transmission is a
standard 915, and a Tarret Engineering Rennshirt performance
shifter was installed. The engine was later upgraded to a twin plug
specification by SuperTec Performance in Fallbrook, California, and
included the Supertec head stud kit, MSD 6 AL ignition box, NGK
spark plugs, MSD high vibration coils, twin plug wire set, twin
plug ignition distributor, RSR plug wire holders, RSR plug
connector holders, regrind cams to DC 60, machine heads and valve
covers. The suspension is set up with Elephant Racing spring
plates, Tarett Engineering adjustable rear sway bar, Bilstein
shocks, and Tarett Engineering adjustable front sway bar. Braking
is handled by OEM 930 Turbo brake calibers with cross-drilled
rotors.
In 2023, European Collectibles purchased this 911T Targa; after
inspecting the 911, we decided to perform a complete window out
repaint in the original color of Aubergine, which is accompanied by
original glass, new rubber seals, and aluminum trim. The upholstery
was completely retrimmed with black vinyl and new German carpets.
The result is a beautifully restored 911T Targa, cosmetically and
mechanically, presented in its original color combination. Complete
with the original owner's manual, Porsche maintenance service
booklet, 72-73 Technical Specifications booklet, and a large 3-ring
binder with extensive documentation over 51 years of service
history. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a performance
early 911 that is well-sorted and a blast to drive!
