Vehicle Description
Retaining its long-hood and short-deck styling proportions, Nissan
rolled out its fourth-generation Z car in 2003. Initially, there
were five trim levels on the coupe - base, enthusiast, performance,
touring and track. The Performance model came with larger 18-inch
wheels, front air dam, rear spoiler, optional Brembo brakes and
Vebicle Dynamic Control (VDC) instead of traction control.
This example was made in Nissan's Oppama, Japan factory in October
2002. Recent vehicle maintenance includes a brake fluid flush; a
clutch fluid flush; a transmission fluid flush; a rear differential
fluid flush; new engine air filter; new windshield wipers; a new
battery and a synthetic oil change.
Dressed in Orange Pearl, this Z car's paint and trim are in overall
excellent order. The car has worn a clear front-end bra since it
was new. The paint show in excellent overall condition and has
always been garaged. The coupe's bodywork is straight and solid and
has such highlights as brushed aluminum door handles, bulging
fenders and a high beltline. In back are a rear window defroster
and wiper/washer system. The body-colored bumpers fit tightly to
the body.
This car rolls on Bridgestone Potenza RE040 radials, size 225/45R18
in front and size 245/45R18 in back. Each radial is mounted to a
factory six-spoke alloy wheel. The wheels are in excellent order, a
testament to the car's storage in a garage and its low mileage. The
tires are in very good condition.
Under the hood is Nissan's venerable 3.5L DOHC 24-valve V-6 engine
(code VQ35DE) with direct fuel injection and variable-valve timing
(CVTCS) and breathing via dual exhausts. Backing this motor is a
six-speed manual transmission (code FS6R31A). Driver convenience
features include electronic climate control, power rack-and-pinion
steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, power
windows, power locks and power sideview mirrors.
Inside, the car features a contrasting gray cloth interior. The
bucket seats are in excellent shape, as is the matching carpet. The
headliner and three-spoke steering wheel look fine. The dashboard,
with its full array of gauges, looks fantastic. Note that the minor
gauges are tilted toward the driver. The center console, with its
mounted shift lever matches the rest of the interior. A factory
AM/FM stereo with a CD player completes the interior.
Competition to this Nissan in 2003 included Acura's NSX, Audi's TT,
Infiniti's G35 Coupe and Porsche's 911 Carrera 4S.
