Vehicle Description
28,829 original miles. Great color combination. New Continental
tires. Completely stock except Flowmaster cat-back exhaust.
Everything works, runs and drives properly. Dodge's awesome Magnum
wagon is the hauler with attitude! When the Magnum dropped, it was
an instant legend. A burly station wagon with HEMI power under the
hood? Where do I sign up? Like all the other V8-powered
rear-wheel-drive Chrysler products of the time, there were a
dizzying array of options and trim levels, with the R/T being the
most popular. The R/T combines traditional rear-wheel-drive
performance with a big honkin' V8 up front?I'm still shocked that
they didn't sell millions of them. Instead, they remain relatively
rare, which is why we're so excited about this 2005 example. It's
the car you wanted to buy 20 years ago but couldn't quite make it
work. The Mineral Gray Metallic finish is suitably aggressive
without being over-the-top, and we like the iron fist in a silk
glove image that this car portrays. It's all original paint, so the
car has never been wrecked or patched up, and with just under
29,000 original miles, it has obviously been loved. That means no
winters, no trailer towing, and none of the heavy-duty jobs that
wagons are usually assigned. It's just a super clean Magnum with no
stories. We like that a lot.The interior is finished in gray
leather, giving the Magnum a much more upscale feel than the wagons
you might have enjoyed when you were a kid. From the driver's seat,
it's not much different than a Charger or 300M, with a fat steering
leather-wrapped wheel, supportive bucket seats, and a full
complement of sporty looking round gauges. It also comes with all
the amenities, including cold A/C, power windows, locks, mirrors,
and seat, a tilt steering column, and a decent-sounding AM/FM/CD
stereo system. The upholstery is in excellent condition, with only
the driver's seat showing a few creases from nearly 20 years of
use, but no splits or tears in the leather?it's holding up really
well. The carpets are excellent, and the door panels look new. This
car obviously didn't spend a lot of time out in the elements. We're
pretty sure the back seat has never been used, and the spacious
cargo bay makes this the most practical muscle car you can own. The
cargo bay is also outfitted with a heavy-duty liner so no worries
about using it as intended. The only possible demerit on the entire
car is that the left rear power window is sometimes fussy, but
that's a pretty small demerit in a car this cool. All those cool
points come from the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 under the hood. Rated at 340
horsepower and a rather shocking 390 lb-ft. of torque, it makes the
big wagon feel downright fast?because it is! It's also fuel
injected with modern controls, so it starts easily, idles properly,
and always works like it should. And given the HUGE aftermarket
that has sprouted around these cars, this one remains almost
entirely stock except for a set of Flowmaster mufflers and polished
stainless tips under the bumper. It sounds awesome! Otherwise it's
just the way the factory intended and you can see that it has been
properly maintained and is super clean under the hood. Even the
original decals and markings are still intact. The 5-speed
automatic transmission is the right choice in a wagon, and it
always seems to serve up the right gear to make the most of the
HEMI's prodigious output. This is still a very fast car! The
all-independent suspension also makes it a capable handler (well,
relative to your parents' wagon, anyway) and 4-wheel disc brakes
are plenty powerful. Glance underneath and you can see that this
car is extremely clean with zero rust issues beyond some surface
scale on the heavy bare metal parts. 18-inch alloy wheels look
awesome and carry fresh 235/55/18 Continental radials.Documentation
includes the original factory owner's manuals and laminated window
sticker. It's unlikely we'll ever see a car like this again from a
major American automaker. Given America's obsession with trucks and
SUVs, station wagons just aren't as popular as they used to be.
That's a shame, because this sucker works REALLY well as both a fun
car and a practical car. If you can have just one car, why not take
a closer look at the Magnum? Call today!Harwood Motors always
