Rumbling into the Maxmotive Pittsburgh showroom is this beautiful
and well-engineered 427 powered 1962 Chevrolet Nova Convertible.
The car is fast and fun to drive. The fun factor is all the more
enhanced as the build was completed with strength and safety as
prime considerations. More than ample power and torque gushes from
a big block Chevrolet 427 with an Edelbrock carb and Edelbrock
Performer intake, MSD ignition, and coated headers. The big block
is bolted to a Tremec 5-speed plus a scattershield. The car is
completely tied together with frame connectors and square tubing.
The reinforcements include a crossmember with a hefty drive shaft
loop. A Heidts front end with tubular A-arms and rack pinion
steering provides solid handling. In the back is a 4-link rear
suspension with coilovers and a Positraction rear axle with
cruise-friendly 3.23 gears. A handy item is the rear differential
cover with a drain plug. It's finned aluminum for better cooling
and appearance. Power 4-wheel disc brakes give the car stopping
power appropriate for this level of performance. The Cowl Induction
style hood scoop, a symbol of Chevrolet performance, channels cold
air directly to a chrome open-element air cleaner. Seven-stage
Cadillac pearl white exterior paint shimmers in the sun contrasting
beautifully with the red vinyl interior and the black convertible
soft top. Even with a convertible, air conditioning by Vintage Air
is a welcome addition. A tilt column with a custom steering wheel
and whiteface VDO gauges mounted in carbon fiber surrounds complete
a comfortable, stylish, and functional interior. Staggered 225 and
245 performance radials are mounted on 17-inch polished American
Racing aluminum wheels that look suitably vintage, but put the
power to the ground in the corners as well as in a straight line. A
427 in a 62 Nova is a rare sight. You'll like how this one is
bolted together so that it can be enjoyed with confidence, and that
adds up to more fun. ********** DISCLAIMER MAXmotive specializes in
