The Fiero, Which Debuted In 1984, Had Roots That Went Back Nearly
20 years. Chief Engineer Elliot "Pete" Estes And John De Lorean Had
Proposed A Two-Seat Sports Car Based On A Shortened Firebird
Chassis.
In 1988 Standard Features For The GT Included Metrix Cloth Trim,
And Monochromatic Exterior Colors. Black Or Gold Diamond Spoke
Aluminum Wheels, An Inflatable Lumbar Support Seat And Soft Leather
Seat Trim. Also, Instrumentation Gauge Package, Upper
Console-Mounted Lamp Group, And Visor Map Pockets.
Major Improvements For 1988 When The Fiero's Front And Rear
Suspensions Were Substantially Upgraded, All Brake Discs Were
Vented And The GT's V-6 Engine Received An Internally Balanced
Crankshaft For Greater Smoothness.
