Few names inspire awe and reverence in the Golden Age of muscle cars than the Chevelle SS. One look at this gold 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle with its black vinyl top and matching racing stripes, and it's easy to see why this car has left an indelible mark on the autoverse. This particular Chevelle's upgraded tubular A-arm front suspension and reinforced ladder bar rear setup work perfectly with its 15-inch Cragar wheels in 255/60R-15 front and 275/60R-15 rear Cooper tires to give this car its menacing stance.

We find a beautifully redone black-on-black interior complete with Procar seats, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an aftermarket shifter. A white-faced Sunpro gauge adds the right amount of contrast while providing feedback on oil pressure and engine temperature.

Under the hood, the valve covers (and the owner) tell us that a 383 cubic inch small block V-8 propels this road rocket. That motor is complemented by aluminum heads, an Edelbrock carburetor, a Weiand aluminum intake, long tube headers, and a sweet-sounding FlowMaster exhaust. That power is then funneled through a Tremec TKX five-speed manual transmission before heading out to the 12-bolt rear end, waiting to turn the stab of the throttle into the thrill of a lifetime.
