looks exactly like you'd expect a 1,700 mile car to look - like a
brand new car! The black paint is as perfect and lustrous as the
day it rolled off the showroom floor 17 years ago. The black body
is accented by Shelby Tungsten Grey LeMans tape stripes that flow
from the hood all the way to the rear bumper as well as matching
grey GT500 side stripes that give the car a traditional look. Up
front is a pumped up aluminum hood with functional heat extractors
near the leading edge. The aggressive front end features a deep
front fascia with blacked-out grilles, a functional air splitter,
fog lights, and an iconic Shelby Cobra badge on the upper grille.
This Cobra badge appears again on the front fenders, letting
everyone know that this is definitely not your everyday Mustang.
Fastback-style rear windows lead your eyes to the rear of the car
where you'll find a vintage ducktail spoiler on the decklid
complete with a "SHELBY" call-out on the back side. Also at the
rear end are sets of Mustangs signature triple tail lights, dual
chrome exhaust tips, and a center-mounted faux gas cap with a cool
Shelby GT500 Cobra logo. This beast of a Mustang rolls down the
road on a set of 18" bright machined aluminum factory wheels
wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Tires - a killer look!
Lift the hood to reveal a immaculately clean and stock engine bay.
The heart of this GT500 is what sets it apart from average Mustangs
- a super-charged 5.4 liter 330ci twin-cam V-8. This powerplant
cranks out 500hp and 480 ft. lbs of torque, achieving 0-60 in a
mere 4.5 seconds and quarter mile runs at 12.9 seconds! The
inter-cooled Roots-type super-charger adds 8.5 lbs of boost and
high-flow cylinder heads are there to back it up. This V-8 is mated
to a Tremec TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission that really puts
the driver in control of the exhilerating driving experience.
Exhaust flows through a dual tuned stainless steel X-pipe sytem to
create an awesome sound both at idle and while cruising. With all
the power this car produces it needs some serious stopping power -
and this GT500 has that covered. It features Brembo front brakes
with 14" vented discs and 4-piston calipers, while 13" vented discs
cover the rear. Adding to the brakes are an ABS system and traction
control. The talented folks in Ford's SVT division installed a
3-link Panhard rod rear suspension and retuned the shocks, springs,
and stabilizer bars to make this Mustang handle like a champ.
When you open the drivers door you're greeted by a beautiful black
interior that looks brand new and offers a multitude of creature
comforts. The drivers door feature power windows, locks and mirrors
as well as one of the speakers from the awesome stereo system. The
black leather front bucket seats sport embossed Cobra logos and
boast increased lateral support for more spirited driving. The
drivers seat has 6-way power adjustability while the passenger seat
is manually operated. The rear seats, though small, are still
comfortable and in the same impeccable condition as those in front.
Between the front seats is a center console with an armrest/storage
box, 2 cupholders, the e-brake lever, and the shifter for the
6-speed transmission with a red-stitched black leather boot. The
red stitching continues onto the 3-spoke leather-wrapped steering
wheel that also features cruise control buttons, a tilt column, and
a Shelby Cobra badge at the center. The gauge cluster ahead offers
gauges for fuel, boost, temp, and oil that are flanked by a
speedometer and tachometer. In the center of the dash is the
climate control system that offers ice-cold A/C, hot heat, and rear
defrost on demand. Above the climate controls is the Shaker 500
Audio System that has an in-dash 6-disc CD changer, AM/FM radio,
and MP3 capabilities. This is one incredible sounding stereo! The
floors are covered in fresh black carpet with carpeted factory
floormats while the ceiling above is dressed in a tight black felt
headliner. Ford kept safety in mind too and equipped this GT500
with 2nd gen dual front airbags and side-mounted airbags. Around
back in the carpeted trunk you'll find the original owners manual,
window sticker, and a receipt from the repair of the airbags - a
manufacturer's recall item.
It is not ever day that you come across one of these GT500's with
such incredibly low mileage. This car would make a great addition
