Fully restored 1966 Pontiac Tempest GTO hardtop available for sale. We purchased this vehicle in Pennsylvania, USA (VIN #242176B124920) in 2007. After completing an extensive ground up restoration in Langley, British Columbia and driving enjoyment, we have decided to put it on the market as a private sale.
CHASSIS: Frame off restoration, professionally welded replacement driver and passenger side floors, trunk panel, front and rear quarter panels. Original and OEM replacement door chrome trim, vinyl top moldings, sash channels, and chrome wheel well trim. New factory style full replacement green (Soft-Ray style) tinted window glass kit throughout, optional tinted strip across top of windshield.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Professionally rebuilt period correct 389 V8 replacement (May 1966) engine with approximately 2,500 km, professionally rebuilt complete, hot tank magnafluxing, new pistons and rings, 16 new valves and springs, new rod bolts, all mains, rods, cam bearings. New alternator, power steering pump, drive belts, factory GM hoses, factory original GM tri-power carburetor and intake manifold set up ( tri- power was a factory option, but not specifically ordered for this vehicle) new front disc brake and rear drum brake kits.
WHEELS: Four-wheel set of Rally I reproduction steel wheels with matching center caps and chrome trim rings. Wheel size 15" x 7" front and 15" x 8" rear, with special order 215/70R BFG 15 Red Line and 225/70R 15 BFG Red Line tires.
REAR AXLE: Professional installation limited slip (the "Safe-T-Track" feature was optional) differential, bearing kit, axle seal, new gears crown and pinion, new 3.55 gear ratio offers smooth shift range through acceleration, excellent cruise ride.
TRANSMISSION: Factory GM original four speed Muncie transmission, including factory Hurst shifter, with numbers matching (case #B124920) transmission case. SUSPENSION / STEERING: Complete front end rebuild kit including coil springs, upper and lower control arms and bushings, ball joints, stabilizers, shocks, tie rods, center link, idler arm, front sway bar, 1" rear sway bar kit, optional rear reinforcement braces, front and rear suspension bumpers, boxed rear control arms, new rear coil springs.
EXTERIOR: Professionally finished body and paint, including new factory style black vinyl roof. Very rare "platinum silver" GM factory original body color paint.
INTERIOR: Factory original rear bench seat, original console refurbished and complete
with working courtesy lamps. Reproduction 1966 GTO correct style tachometer. Factory original Pontiac AM radio and antenna, working rebuild. Reproduction 1966 GTO walnut 4-speed shifter knob.
