99,270 kilometers Introduced in 1984, the first generation Toyota
Hilux Surf was designed and built on the frame of the two door
Hilux pickup truck by removing the rear wall and then mounting a
canopy on the bed. This was the first step in transitioning to a
more family friendly, multi-use vehicle and, with comfort and
safety at the forefront, future generations were manufactured with
a more sophisticated steel wagon body. The third generation, as
represented here, brought with it a renewed chassis including a
larger wheelbase and treads to further improve stability and ride
comfort. The previously available two-door option was discontinued,
and the Hilux Surf was sold exclusively as a four-door vehicle with
a top-hinged tailgate. In Japan, the third generation model was
offered with three different choices of engine: Options included
the gasoline powered 3.4 Liter V6 and 2.7 Liter I4, or a diesel
powered 3.0 Liter I4. All units were powered by a part-time 4-wheel
drive and utilized either a 4-speed automatic transmission, or a
5-speed manual transmission, depending on the trim level.
Production continued into the year 2009, where the Toyota Hilux
Surfs 25 year run came to a close. Third party pre-purchase
inspections are welcomed and encouraged. All vehicles sold by
Duncan come with a clean U.S. title.
