Power was delivered by a special version of the famed High Output 5.0L V-8 engine, factory-rated at 240 horsepower. Upgrades applied to the Cobra mill over the standard Mustang GT specification included GT40 cylinder heads and lower intake, plus a Cobra-specific upper intake. This special Cora-spec engine also represented one of the final applications of Ford's famous 5.0L high-performance V-8 engine, which would be replaced by the 4.6L "Modular" engine design for 1996. Factory-rated at 240 horsepower, the SVT Cobra's EFI 5.0L V-8 engine delivered excellent performance with peak horsepower reached at 4,800 rpm and 285 foot-pounds of peak torque at just 4,000 rpm. Functional upgrades included 13-inch vented front disc brakes, 11.65-inch rear discs with dual-piston calipers, and standard ABS. Specific 17x8-inch cast-aluminum wheels mounted standard Goodyear GS-C P255/45ZR17 high-performance tires. Unique chassis tuning further elevated the SVT Cobra's driving experience.
