Vehicle Description
Mini Cooper fans, rejoice! This example is an uncommon, low-mileage
John Cooper Works Coupe made even more desirable through a
remarkably faithful conversion to rare, factory GP spec.
This example was ordered in October 2012, made in Cowley,
Oxfordshire, England and BMW's factory in December 2012 and
delivered on January 2, 2013 to MINI of Peabody in Peabody,
Massachusetts.
Finished in White Silver Metallic (code A62) with John Cooper Works
signature Chili Red (code 851) roof, side mirror caps, spoilers and
painted racing stripes on hood and roof. Some buff books remarked
at the time that the car looked like it wore a backward baseball
cap, emphasized here with the red hue. The car's paint and trim are
all in excellent overall shape. The car's bodywork is straight and
solid, the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body, the engine
bay is very tidy and cargo area looks good.
This Mini rolls on Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 radials, size
205/45R17 at every corner. Each one is mounted on a factory GP
wheel. The wheels and tires are all in very good order. The John
Cooper Works model has red Brembo four-piston front brake calipers
with 12.4-inch ventilated discs.
Under the wee hood is a 1.6L DOHC 16-valve turbocharged
four-cylinder engine (code N14) with direct fuel injection,
variable valve timing and variable valve lift. Backing this motor
is a six-speed manual transmission. Driver convenience features are
lengthy - air-conditioning with microfilter and air-recirculation;
electric power-assisted steering; power four-wheel disc brakes;
power windows; tilt and telescopic steering column; power-folding +
heated sideview mirrors; heated front seats; retractable headlight
washers; Xenon headlights; six-way adjustable front buckets; and
more.
Oher goodies include a cold weather package, Mini Connected option
and Rennline Porsche racing-style door pulls, Bose JCW-Q35
noise-cancelling headphones and aftermarket wheels with snow
tires.
Safety equipment includes dual front airbags; side thorax airbags;
anti-lock brakes, dynamic traction control; electronic differential
lock control; corner brake control; keyless entry; rain sensor;
auto headlight-on; and rear foglamp.
Inside, the Carbon Black Dinamica Red Recaro sport seats with Chili
Red trim and matching seatbelts, look fantastic. There are
checkered flag mats that are part of the JCW package on the floor
that could use some TLC, an anthracite headliner, a black and grey
instrument panel and matching inner door panels with a
leather-wrapped, three-spoke steering wheel. There's a Harman
Kardon premium AM/FM audio system with HD radio, six speakers,
presets and auxiliary input + Bluetooth with USB/iPod integration
that rounds out the interior along with a console-mounted shift
lever.
The Coupe (Coupe in the US), which went on sale in the UK from 1
October 2011 and is based on the Mini Cabriolet but with only two
seats, allowing a bigger boot of 9.9 cubic feet. The Coupe's
windscreen is angled rearwards by 13 degrees more than in the
cabrio's and the roof is 1.1 inches lower than standard Mini Hatch.
The rear spoiler rises automatically at speeds above 50 miles per
hour or with the use a toggle switch above the rearview mirror.
The range of the Coupe follows a similar pattern to other Mini
models; featuring Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper SD and the range-topping
John Cooper Works (JCW). The JCW version accelerates from 0 to 62
mph in 6.4 seconds and has a top speed of 149 mph. All are equipped
with a six-speed manual gearbox with the option of six-speed
Steptronic automatic.
Documentation includes original window sticker, original owner's
manual, original promotional catalogs, original door pulls, OEM JCW
two-tone cover with racing stripes, aftermarket chrome trim rings,
OEM chrome vent rings.
