First shown to the public in January 2013, the seventh-generation (C7) Corvette offered extensive updates over its predecessor. A 455hp LT1 V8 (460hp with the optional performance exhaust) ensured acceleration was up to the standards set by a vastly improved chassis, especially with the optional Z51 suspension. The car instantly captured enthusiast's imaginations with its high value-per-dollar. Of course, it wasn't long before those same enthusiasts were clamoring for more power.
Pre-empting the release of the Corvette Z06 by a few months, Callaway Cars, the longtime Corvette tuners, announced the release of the SC627 package. Initially offered only through authorized dealers, the SC627 coupled a third-generation supercharger with a special "TripleCooled" intercooler along with special Callaway embellishments for an increased output of 627hp and 610lb.ft. of torque. In comparison to the track-tuned Z06, the Callaway SC627 provides a more relaxed, more street-oriented feel with a similarly intense performance potential. While Callaway hasn't released overall production numbers, it is rumored that less than 100 C7 Corvettes have visited Callaway's facilities to receive the SC627 upgrades.
