Vehicle Description
Created by industrial designer, Brook Stevens, who was responsible
for innovations spanning some 60 years! With his automobile passion
and career with Studebaker, he designed his own vehicle along with
his two sons in the early 1960's, and later established Excalibur
Automobile Corp located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. These beautifully
crafted cars are completely factory built, never sold or produced
in "kit" form as often assumed. Using only new components, modern
drivetrain & chassis, and styling cues originally borrowed from the
distinctive 1929 Mercedes-Benz SSK, these cars were an instant
success among luxury car enthusiasts and Hollywood elite!
We are excited to offer this rare 1988 Excalibur Series V Sedan
finished in Burgundy Metallic with tan painted accent pinstripes
over matching Burgundy Leather interior! Powered by its original
305ci V8 and 700R4 automatic transmission supplied through General
Motors, it has been recently upgraded with the Holley Sniper EFI
(electronic fuel-injection) system for optimum performance,
addition of electric fuel pump, and handsfree tuning. Features and
options on these special, luxury sedans include air conditioning,
power front disc brakes, power steering, power windows & locks,
6-way power adjustable front seats, electronic trunk release, dual
Unity S6 spotlights, dual side-mounted spare tire with painted hard
covers, AFI air horns, Hella headlamps and center fog lamp, chrome
15" wire spoke wheels wrapped in new Vogue whitewall/gold stripe
combination radial tires, VDO instrumentation, factory Sony
AM/FM/Cassette audio system with equalizer, rear reading lamps,
tilt steering column with wood steering wheel, wood dash and door
trim, rear splash guards, and teakwood rails on the running
boards!
These sedans are ultra rare and were only produced in 1988 and
1989, with only 101 manufactured in total. It was noted through
Excalibur records that 9 of the sedans were later converted into
stretch limousines, leaving just 92 original Excalibur sedans
available on the open market traded amongst collectors today. They
do not come available often, and this time capsule has been with
its former Wisconsin owners since January 1992! He would purchase
it from the original Illinois owner with just 4,434 miles on the
odometer. Today, it shows only 15,191 actual miles!
Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum & Sales, it received a
complete brake service with new fluid, new spark plugs, drive
belts, engine oil & filter, air filter, and air conditioning
service. The original Quadrajet carburetor was replaced with a
brand-new Holley Sniper EFI Quadrajet Master Kit designed
specifically for our engine application. This upgrades the fuel
delivery system and efficiency of overall operation with
self-learning software. We couldn't be more pleased with the
results! We also replaced and balanced four new Vogue Tyres along
with installing new trunk lid hydraulic supports. It is a terrific
driver and provides ample room for extra passengers for nights on
the town! This Excalibur comes with its original owner's manuals,
radio instructions, and one set of keys. You will have a tough time
finding another Excalibur Sedan available on the market anytime
soon, so we strongly suggest adding this one to your collection
