Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this stunning 1979 Pontiac TA which is a documented Factory Y89 10th Anniversary Trans AM. In 1979 Pontiac only made 1817 10th anniversary Trans AM's with a factory 4 speed manual transmission coupled with a Pontiac 400 engine, this TA is 1 of the 1817 made. Per the included window sticker this TA is a Factory 4 speed manual transmission TA with a Factory Pontiac 400 engine which is original to the car, see photos of vin stamp on block and "PWH" stamp on block. This TA features a newer paint job with new decals and pin stripes, a restored correct silver deluxe interior, the original Pontiac 400 engine, and PHS documents authenticating this special TA. This TA is finished in the very desirable color combination of Silver exterior over Silver deluxe interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified on the included PHS documents and trim tag. These special low production 4 Speed Trans Am's are some of the most sought after collectible TA's on the market. They continue to increase in value and desirability.
Exterior
The Silver exterior was restored around 7 years ago and remains in great overall condition. This repaint was done professionally and still shows really well. The paint is in great overall condition and has a very nice gloss and excellent shine. There are no signs of visible rust anywhere on the body or underneath and both bumpers are in good shape. There is no bubbling paint or cracked paint due to body filler on this TA. The underside is very solid and shows no signs of current or previous rust. There are no patches from past repairs. The car was rust proofed when new and most of the undercoating is still in place. There are places where it has flaked off and the metal underneath looks brand new. There may be some minor imperfections that are not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The tires have decent thread left and are sized 225/70/15 and the Turbo wheels are originals and in good shape. All weather stripping and window sweeps are in good shape. Trunk is very clean and in stock condition with the original spare tire and jack with an original correct trunk mat. The original t top bags are still in the trunk and the original speakers are still in the rear deck with an original speaker insulation box.
Interior
The Silver deluxe interior of this Trans Am is in restored condition. The special leather seat covers were replaced with added new seat foam with no wear, no rips, or seam splits. The plush carpet is in great condition with no stains, rips, or holes. The dash is in excellent condition with no cracks, no warping, and no fading. Most importantly this is the original dash, not a dash cap or the like. The dash bezel is in great shape as well. The stereo was upgraded to a modern CD player which sounds great and works well. The door panels are new and were replaced and are in like new condition and both door pulls are solid and in tact. The headliner was replaced and the rear package tray was replaced as well and still hosts the original speakers. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work. The horn, stereo, wipers, and blower motor all work. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. The factory AC system in in tact and all the components seem to be in good working order. The power antenna and windows work well.
Mechanical
This Trans Am is in good mechanical condition and most importantly the original Pontiac W72 400 engine is still in the car with matching numbers, see vin block stamp. The original 4 speed manual transmission is numbers matching as well, see vin stamp in gallery. An Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold was added along with an Edelbrock fuel pump. The 4 wheel disk brakes work well and do not pull from side to side. A new radiator was just added. The exhaust was replaced with Flowmaster mufflers with added headers which gives this TA a nice rumble at idle and cruising speeds. A new mini starter was added. A fresh oil change was just completed. Newer sway bar end links were added. We have driven this car several times and it always performs well, it rides well, and is always a joy to drive. The smiles, thumbs up, and attention you get driving this car is addictive. In the video one can observe this car running and driving and the car handles and performs well. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs good. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos.
