Vehicle Description
Oh man, the 1970's was a horrible time for automakers in the US.
When the Government has a say in how a company builds its cars, you
know you have a problem. Increased safety requirements, smog or
anti pollution requirements, fuel consumption, Horsepower
restrictions etc....Not to mention the growing pains of technology
and how to incorporate that with all this new government control
was hard. In 1974, the Firebirds curb weight rose dramatically
because of the implementation of 5 MPH bumpers as well as decreased
HP ratings. OK, OK OK, wasn't all bad, in fact the Camaro and
Firebird still had their looks, and they still had a following from
people looking for something a little more exciting, I mean James
Rockford drove a 74 Firebird in the very first season of the
Rockford files. This particular Brown esprit is not perfect but is
a excellent driver with a good interior, decent paint and good
mechanicals. It had a re-paint many years ago and has some rust
popping through as seen in the pics. I do have a replacement panel
for the lower door area. The headliner is in need of some help as a
few other areas, however this car is ready to be enjoyed or enjoyed
while working on it. This is a factory A/C with tilt column car
that goes down the road very nicely with good brakes, shifting and
idling. This would make a great entry level collector car. Note,
the price reflects things needed.
