The E9 BMW 3.0csi last produced in 1975 was a hard act to follow, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cars ever made. The replacement E24 "6" series was introduced in 1976 and saw continuous mechanical improvement during its 13 year run. Commissioning Paul Bracq to pen the design gave BMW a good chance for the public to forget the old and embrace the new with this car spawning a new and familiar era for the full model range.

In 1987, three years after its introduction in Europe the North American market received its first M6. The North American market accounted for just under 1,767 of the total worldwide production of 5,855. These are rare cars distinguished by their race bred straight six engines that included twin cams and individual throttle body intake runners, delivering substantial bumps in horsepower and torque over the base model engines. These were BMW's top of the line offering and incorporated all of the leading edge performance, luxury and safety features the company had to offer.

This 1988 model, finished in Royal Blue and grey leather is sporting just over 88,000 original miles. It is a three owner car having sold originally in Phoenix where the third owner out of Texas purchased it from the estate of his deceased cousin. The car has no history of accidents and other than a refinished front spoiler still wears its original paint which presents nicely. Unfortunately what were remembered as detailed records were lost by the estate but the car is reported to have received consistent maintenance. Most recently new Bilstein shocks have been mounted at all four corners. The car runs and drives flawlessly and can certainly be daily driven if desired. Everything is in working order. It is good to go.

The E24 was part of BMW's surge in popularity in the USA, it came to be referred to as the "shark" due to its raked grille and sleek profile. The M6 was part of the initial street going models developed by the M Sport Division who heretofore only built limited light weight homologation cars needed to participate in sports car racing.

This excellent example is offered for sale as is where in Rowlett, Texas with a clean Texas Title and Clean Carfax report.
