GM's Cadillac Division has maintained its uninterrupted reputation
for building fine cars since establishment in 1903. As Cadillac
progressed from the many technical innovations and the stylistic
flamboyance of the 1950s to the 1960s, it did so with a sense of
continuously refined elegance, with the facelifted 1960 models most
prominently featuring more discreet tailfins and elimination of the
dated bullet-style front bumper guards. Ample power continued to be
delivered by Cadillac's proprietary 390-cid V-8 engine, delivering
325 horsepower in basic four-barrel tune and 20 more with optional
Tri Power induction (standard with the Eldorado), matched to the
renowned four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. A wide
range of six model lines was offered by Cadillac for 1960,
including the Series 62-based DeVille sub-series. Three DeVille
models included 4- and 6-Window pillarless hardtop sedans and the
2-door DeVille hardtop coupe. Comprehensive DeVille standard
features included power window lifts, a two-way power front seat,
and a choice of Chadwick cloth or Cambray cloth and leather
