Long renowned for their cars offering spritely acceleration and a pure driving experience, Austin-Healey also produced a variety of larger, higher performance models powered by Inline-6 motors. The first of these, the 100-6, was introduced in late 1956 and featured a 2.6L engine. For 1959, the car received a major upgrade - so major, in fact, the company elected to rename the car to the "3000", in reference to the increased displacement of the motor, now up to 2.9L.
Initially, the 3000 was largely the same as the 100-6 outside of the engine and came available in two-seated or 2+2 roadster. The Mk2 and later cars added comfort and additional power, leaving the original Mk1 models as the purest iterations of the model. Today, the 3000 is the most well-remembered of the so-called "big Healeys". With a lovely mixture of classic British handling and the extra power of a six-cylinder motor, the 3000 is just as much a joy to drive as it was when new.
The fantastic 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk1 BT7 2+2 Roadster featured here is finished in classic Healey Blue over a Blue interior with a matching folding convertible top. This stunning 3000 was restored in the 1980s and is ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next caretaker. We are proud to offer this stylish Austin-Healey to the most particular collector, investor, or enthusiast who appreciates the driving dynamics and history offered by this British classic!
