Vehicle Description
1967 Chevrolet Impala 4 Door Hardtop
"If you're the kind of person who hungers after 4 door hardtop
styling with no hedge on class - well, these pictures will only
whet your appetite. There's only one way to satisfy your craving.
Stop by your Chevrolet dealer's showroom and get a sports sedan to
go.". From the 1967 Chevrolet sales brochure. Unfortunately, you
can't go to a dealership and purchase a new 4 door Impala, but the
good news is, you can find one at Classic Auto Mall!
For consignment, a 1967 Chevrolet Impala 4 door hardtop with a
title verified 23,742 actual miles. It's an original car and a rare
find indeed, and we're thrilled to represent this beauty. Its
yellow on turquoise color scheme probably wasn't rare back in the
day, but when was the last time you saw one in 2024? The Impala is
a medium sized antelope that doesn't stay in one place too long. We
suspect this one won't be with us long, so gather your pride, the
hunt is on!
Exterior
Fifteen color options were available in 1967 and the YY code
translates to Butternut Yellow which is what we have here. This is
a big car so we're not sure how many quarts went into painting it,
but it creates a stunning presence accented by pinstripes along the
fender lines, the rear of which creates a shoulder from the
C-pillar. The lower line is highlighted by an aluminum trim piece
that runs from the front quarter panel all the way to the back. The
chrome bumper and polished metal around the grille are in fantastic
condition as are all the emblems in place. There's a smooth
transition from the slightly rounded roof to the sloping rear
window which blends seamlessly into the long trunk. The original
wheel coverings that dress the 14-inch wheels look great and are
wrapped in 75 series tires while the door handles and side mirror
shine like new. Imperfections are few and limited to a paint chip
low on the car and some paint drips on a lower door edge.
Interior
What a contrast, beautiful turquoise door panels contain patterned
vinyl with silver trim and a dark blue carpeted footer, and all
four door panels are in great shape. Meanwhile the rears contain a
shiny ashtray for the occupants. The front bench consists of
turquoise cloth surrounded by vinyl sides and accented with
elongated buttons. Same with the rear bench and like the front,
looks incredibly original and new. The long wheelbase allows for
plenty of legroom in the back seat and with a low backed bench, dad
could easily reach back if he had to. Meanwhile, the turquoise 3
spoke steering wheel shares its column with the shifter and the
indicator is set down near the dash where symmetrically arranged
gauges provide pertinent information including the time. Further
over, we have the A/C controls and a newer AM/FM/CD radio that
presents a slight hiccup to the all original interior, but good
tunes are important too. The dash is immaculate from end to end and
the loop style turquoise carpet that covers the floor shows slight
discoloration in areas but is otherwise in fine condition. The
stitched cloth headliner looks great and a clean trunk contains the
period plaid mat and a spare tire and wheel.
Drivetrain
A 250ci inline 6 cylinder engine is under the massive hood, and it
appears in almost showroom condition. A 1-barrel carburetor feeds
the engine which is connected to a Powerglide 2-speed automatic
transmission which sends power to the rear 10-bolt differential
housing 3.36 gears. Power drum brakes are equipped at all four
wheels.
Undercarriage
More driver quality than showroom underneath with areas of surface
rust and some oil on both the rear differential where the cover
meets the housing, and residual oil on the pan, flywheel cover, and
crossmember. A bit of grease builds up at the bushings but overall
a relatively clean underside with a nice application of black
undercoating. A single exhaust runs the length of the car,
encountering a stock style muffler on the way back to a single
tailpipe exiting the left rear. Coil spring suspension is noted up
front with a 3-link, coil springs, and a panhard bar for the back.
We note that the spiral style GM shock are still in their factory
homes.
Drive-Ability
With the radio off, this car definitely takes you back to a
different era. It's about as close to a new 1967 as you can get and
the 6 cylinder with 1-barrel is no speed demon, especially when
lugging around more than 4,000 pounds of steel. But it's not about
speed. This is a period cruiser that is fresh and clean. Everything
functions as it should with the exception of the A/C.Trivia
time.
What television cop drove a 4 door Impala? That would be Tony
Baretta. His was a 1966 and as gritty as the neighborhoods he
patrolled. Our consignment car is a far cry from that beater. This
is a stunning, unmodified example of a nearly pristine 1967 Impala
4 door. Many were produced, few remain in this condition. Keep your
eye on the sparrow and call us today.
