Vehicle Description
This 1931 Plymouth 3 Window Coupe Hemi Rat Rod is a rolling work of
art that blends vintage style with raw, unbridled power. The
heavily patina'd body, adorned with rust holes, tells a story of a
life well-lived. The chopped top, suicide doors with custom hinges
made from rod bearing caps, and the absence of side windows give
this rod an aggressive, no-nonsense stance. The Packard swan hood
ornament leads the charge, while the chrome spiderweb grille with
chrome spikes adds a touch of menace. Plexiglass front and rear
windows keep the elements at bay, while the frenched 50's Cadillac
tail lights and deleted trunk lid complete the look. This rod rides
on 18" front wheels wrapped in 3-18 Firestone tires from 2015 and
15" rear wheels with 12.50-15 MT dragsters.
The interior is a minimalist's dream, with diamond plate steel
floorboards, multicolored blanket upholstery over the bucket seats,
and a wooden three-spoke steering wheel. The tall Lokar shifter
with a green skull knob puts the power in your hands, while the
corrugated steel dash houses aftermarket gauges including water
temp, volts, oil pressure, fuel, speedometer, and tach. Front and
rear-facing cameras add a modern touch to this old-school
bruiser.
Powering this beast is a 330ci DeSoto FireDome Hemi V8, topped with
three 9 Super 7 two-barrel carbs that resemble Strombergs. The
power is sent through a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission to a
9" rear end. The custom tube chassis features a solid front axle on
a mono leaf spring, while the rear boasts a multi-link setup with
mono leaf and shocks. Rear manual drums provide stopping power. An
electric fan on an aluminum radiator keeps things cool, while the
cog belt drive spins the water pump and alternator.
