For Sale: 1969 Ford Fairlane in Watford, Ontario

Vehicle Description

Comprehensively restored during the early 2000s, this Meadowlark Yellow 1969 Ford Cobra Fastback is a prime example of Ford’s entry into the late-1960s budget Supercar market. Based on the Fairlane 500, the Cobra featured the R-Code 428/335 HP Cobra Jet V-8 engine, a choice of the C-6 automatic or Ford Toploader 4-speed transmissions, a Ford 9-inch rear end, dual exhaust ending with chrome tips, and Competition Suspension with higher-rate springs, stiffer shocks, and a larger front sway bar. Externally, Cobras were identified by a blackout grille, hood scoop with “428 Cobra Jet” chrome lettering on each side, racing-style hood pins, and stylized ‘Cobra’ snake emblems on the front fenders and rear panel. This 1969 Ford Fairlane Cobra Fastback was ordered on February 3, 1969, built at Ford’s San Jose, California factory on February 21, 1969, and delivered to Lee Jarmon Ford, Inc. in Carrollton, Texas, where Ricky Lindsey of McKinney, Texas purchased it. Power is delivered by the matching numbers R-Code (Ram Air) 428 Cobra Jet V-8 engine, paired with a console-shifted C-6 automatic transmission and 3.00:1 standard rear axle. Although the Fairlane/Torino-based Cobras was billed as a no-frills muscle car, this example was well optioned when new with Black vinyl bucket seats, a center console, AM radio, power steering, power front disc brakes, tinted glass, and air conditioning.

The Cobra’s matching numbers R-Code 428 Cobra Jet V-8 engine features Ram Air induction, a 4-barrel carburetor, and dual aluminized exhaust. An upgraded aluminum radiator is currently installed. The underbody and suspension are in restored factory-correct condition without modifications. The interior is clean, correct, and in excellent condition with some limited fading to the carpets in places. The trunk is equipped with a factory-style plaid floor mat and a correctly stowed body-color spare wheel mounting a correct full-size spare tire, roadside jack, and lug wrench. Miscellaneous small spare parts are also included. A modern Custom Autosound radio is present, with an operating instructions booklet included. Documents include an original order form and build sheet, prior Texas title documents, model information, a Torino/Fairlane dealer brochure, an owner's manual, a Deluxe Marti Report, parts/service/restoration invoices, and restoration photos. Rare today as 1 of 187 Cobra Fastbacks produced for 1969 with its specific paint/trim codes, this Ford Supercar is ready to collect, show, and enjoy. Canadian tax is not applicable.
