For Sale: 1962 Studebaker Hawk in Belfair, Washington

Vehicle Description

Up for sale is a 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk with under 63000 miles. It has power steering and brakes.  The car was purchased in Palm Springs from the estate of Bobby Darren and Sandra Dee.  I haven't been able to verify this information, but the previous owner stated that is where he got it.  It had been sitting for many years in a carport.  He had all the mechanicals done to get the car running and driving, then lost interest or ran out of money.  I bought the car did the following:

  • New Paint
  • New Upholstery
  • New Carpet
  • New Tires
  • New Battery, Belts and Hoses
  • New Carb
  • Rebuilt front end (bushings, bearings, etc)
  • All 3 power steering lines replaced
  • 4 New Shocks

There's probably more, but that is the majority of things done.  The upholstery guy fell ill, and was not able to complete the windlass and kick panels.  I do have the material for all of that though, and will leave it in the car.  The tires literally have 18 miles on them.  I have not been able to drive the car very much.  It seems to run very well, has good oil pressure, and is very quiet/smooth on the road.  No knocks or rattles. Things that need attention are:

  • Tach does not work.  I was told it needed a sending unit, which I bought, but I am too old to crawl under the dash to replace it.  It will be in the glove box for the new owner.
  • The car came with A/C in it.  I took it out because it wasn't working.  All the components are in the trunk.
  • Although the paint look pretty nice, I think it could be better with a good wet sand and buff.
  • I have NOS Studebaker exhaust tips, but the pipes are not aligned. They will need to be straightened out for the tips to fit properly.

The reason those things have not been done is because I live in the middle of nowhere lol, and there just isn't anyone available close to me.

I can't think of anything else.  I would feel uncomfortable saying you can fly in and drive it home because I honestly don't know enough about the car.  No scams please - I know them all.  I also do not need help selling my car.  I am retiring and moving out of the country - a decision that was made after I bought the Hawk, which is why I am selling.
