& READY TO ENJOY! Produced for 1984-88, Pontiac's two-seat,
mid-engine Fiero was conceived during the late-1970s and managed to
slip past the purview of top GM brass and bean counters as a small,
fuel-efficient commuter car. After a lengthy development and test
cycle, with regular magazine spy photos confirming its existence
during the early 1980s, the Fiero 2M4 finally entered production
for a 1984 model-year launch. Power was delivered by GMs proven
2.5-liter "Iron Duke" 4-cylinder engine, with a choice of manual or
automatic transmissions sending power to the rear wheels by
transaxle. Respected for sharp handling and good braking, the Fiero
delivered a high fun-to-drive factor and inspired a plethora of
aftermarket upgrades. Progressive updates included the availability
of GM's 135-horsepower 2.8-liter EFI V6 engine by 1985 and a
special Indy Fiero model that year, plus updated frontal styling
and a new Formula model. With its sleek, wedgy body style and trim
proportions, the Fiero was a natural choice for competition in IMSA
GTU and GTO classes, led by Joe Huffaker Racing with Dole
sponsorship on the West Coast. Fiero production sadly and finally
ended in 1988, due mostly to lukewarm corporate interest in GM's
famously muddled brand hierarchy of the time. In total, over
368,000 Fieros were built and of them, the performance-oriented
Fiero GT is understood to have amounted to just 17 per cent of
total production. Fewer still featured the 4-speed manual transaxle
of this example, offered with approximately 37,200 accumulated
miles at the time of writing. Clearly benefiting from
climate-controlled storage, this Fiero GT features an excellent
Black paint finish and similarly fine Gray cloth interior. Features
and options include air conditioning, power brakes, power windows,
power door locks, a tilt steering wheel, and Kenwood stereo.
Factory "Snowflake" style wheels and a rear spoiler round out the
visuals of this true 1980s classic sports car, which is ready to
deliver an excellent driving experience with its great-sounding
135-horsepower, 2.8-liter V-6 engine and 4-speed manual transaxle.
