Designed and built to celebrate the Golden Anniversary of Ford's
historic Model A, the Shay Model A was the brainchild of former
Detroit GM engineer Harry J. Shay. Featuring a fiberglass main body
and steel hood with authentic original Model A details, the Shay
Model A featured modern and economical Ford Pinto running gear
including a 2.3-liter engine, automatic transmission, and
independent front suspension with front disc/rear drum hydraulic
brakes. High demand drew enthusiastic magazine articles and buyers
flocked to Ford and Lincoln-Mercury showrooms where the Shay Model
A was sold with Ford's official sanction and full factory warranty
coverage. Production ran for just 1980-82 with about 5,000
produced, according to the Shay Model A Club. Finished in yellow
with black fenders and matching vinyl upholstery, this very nice
and enjoyable example features twin horns, steel wire wheels, twin
side mounted spares with chrome mirrors, power brakes, tilt
steering, vintage-appearing turn signals, wind wings, an electric
windshield wiper, 140 km/h speedometer, a folding black vinyl top,
black-upholstered rumble seat, and front and rear chrome bumpers.
Combining vintage looks with modern mechanicals with real Ford
heritage. Appraised value of $35,000.Plus HST & registration
fees.WE WILL TAKE ANYTHING IN ON TRADE!
