Vehicle Description
STK 3830 1955 Pontiac Chieftan
With its iconic 'Native American' chief hood ornament, the 1955
model marked a significant year for the Pontiac brand. It reflected
the styling trends of the mid-1950s with sleek lines and bold
accents. This '55 Pontiac Chieftain two-door sedan has been the
beneficiary of a refined restoration and is a solid example of this
model. The exterior was carefully refinished in two-tone
Sequoia/Valley Green and is accented by handsome chrome/stainless.
GM 15"x7" rallye wheels with trim rings/centers mount Nexen
radials. The interior is in outstanding condition, nicely appointed
with the modern amenities of the time. All basic components such as
the dashboard, headliner, carpeting and door panels are excellent.
The sedan is also equipped with what appears to be factory air
conditioning (works very well) and a modern digital Pioneer
AM/FM/CD sound system that is top-shelf. This big Pontiac is
powered by a 287ci V8, the first overhead valve V-8 Pontiac had
ever offered. In these early years of overhead valve V-8s, the
Pontiac division produced only one engine displacement size per
year. This original engine design was a hallmark of the Pontiac
brand for years, simply utilizing bore or stroke increases to
create larger displacement and more power. (The 389ci version of
this engine, released in 1959, became Poncho lore as it powered the
early GTOs.) This 287 is equipped with a 2-barrel carburetor and is
backed by a factory Hydra-Matic transmission. The solid chassis is
equipped with power steering, power drum brakes w/dual master and
custom exhaust system. This Chieftain is ready for a new owner who
will appreciate the history and classic style of this full size
Pontiac. ALL VEHICLES SOLD "AS IS".
