Description:
This 1964 Ford Thunderbird hardtop coupe is powered by a 390ci V8
mated to a Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission, and
it is finished in Silver Mink over silver. Equipment includes a
body-color steel hardtop roof, 15? steel wheels with covers, quad
headlights, a curved rear bench, a swing-away steering wheel, an AM
radio, and a MagicAire heater/defroster. The selling dealer
recently acquired the car and has since changed the oil, performed
an ignition tune-up, and replaced the rear differential bearings
and the front wheel cylinders, brake hoses, and strut rod bushings.
This Thunderbird is now offered at no reserve with a clean Florida
title.
Interior:
The shell-contour front bucket seats and curved rear bench are
upholstered in silver vinyl and are accented by a color-coordinated
dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Amenities include front and
rear center armrests, an AM radio, and a MagicAire
heater/defroster. The two-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a
swing-away column and frames a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer
and gauges for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and
amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 52k miles. Service in
preparation for the sale included replacing the headlight switch,
instrument cluster voltage regulator, and the lower steering column
bushing. The fuel gauge only works intermittently.
Exterior:
The car left the factory finished in Silver Mink (E) and has been
repainted. Features include a body-color hardtop roof, a
wrap-around chrome-finished front bumper, quad headlights,
gun-sight front turn signals, and a chrome pinched-loop-style rear
bumper.
Drivetrain:
The 390ci V8 is fitted with an Edelbrock air cleaner and was
factory rated at 300 horsepower and 427 lb-ft of torque. Service in
preparation for the sale included changing the oil and replacing
the spark plugs and the distributor cap, rotor, points, and
condenser. Power is routed to the rear wheels via a Cruise-O-Matic
three-speed automatic transmission. The rear differential bearings
and gaskets were replaced in preparation for the sale. The 15?
steel wheels wear knock-off-style covers and were mounted with Toyo
Extensa in preparation for the sale. The car came equipped from the
factory with power steering, and stopping power is provided by
power-assisted drum brakes at each corner. Service in May 2024
included replacing the front wheel cylinders, brake hoses, and
strut rod bushings. The selling dealer notes that the power
steering whines and the car pulls to the left.
