For Sale: 1983 Chrysler New Yorker in Columbus, Ohio
Cruisin Classics is pleased to offer to you today this
well-preserved, one family owned, 1983 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth
Avenue with only 48,630 miles on the odometer. This car is built on
the larger M-body platform and it was given the Fifth Avenue title
to differentiate it from the new, smaller E-body New Yorker. This
New Yorker has been resprayed its original color of Charcoal Grey
Metallic and it looks great with a thin red pinstripe accent that
runs the length of the body. The elegant looks start up front with
a bright vertical grille with a Chrysler hood ornament flanked by
dual side-by-side rectangular headlights. Beneath the grille is a
good looking chrome bumper with rubber guards. Gleaming brightwork
continues on to the side of the car with with wheel lip molding,
rocker covers, window trim and dual side mirrors. Faux fender vents
add a cool neo-classic touch. The black padded vinyl landau top
with accent band and Fifth Avenue badging is still in very good
condition. In the rear is another chrome bumper with rubber guards
and a third brake light. Complementing the classy exterior are wire
wheel covers and a set of Milestar Touring SLE tires.
Under the hood is a bone-stock engine bay that is home to a 5.2
liter 318ci V-8 that is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission
that shifts effortlessly. While under the hood you'll notice that
this New Yorker is outfitted with power steering and power brakes
(disc/drum). All of the factory A/C components are present, but the
system is currently inoperative.
Open the drivers door and courtesy lights pop on to reveal a
time-capsule of luxury that looks amazing for 41 years old. The
entire interior is done in burgundy with highly-featured woodgrain
accents. The button-tufted pillow-soft seats are covered in
"Kimberly Velvet" and they are every bit as comfortable as they
look! The split front bench offers individual manual adjustability,
a fold-down armrest, and seatbelts for three. The rear bench is in
the same great shape as the front. The door cards are a mix of
velour and vinyl with woodgrain touches and controls for the power
windows, locks, and a toggle for the drivers mirror. The plush
burgundy mouton-style carpet is as soft and touchable as a bearskin
rug. The crack-free vinyl dashpad with faux stitching is home to a
woodgrain gauge bezel with circular gauges for battery, temp, fuel,
and speedometer as well as warning lights for washer, gate open,
brake, and oil. Climate controls on the dash provide a rear
defogger, hot heat, and a working fan, though it only blows through
the defrost vents. Also on the dash is the factory AM/FM/Cassette
stereo which sounds good and extends the power antenna just as it
should. The original 2-spoke steering wheel with woodgrain accent
sits on a column with a stalk for cruise control and intermittent
wipers and a shifter for the automatic transmission. Ahead of the
passenger is a glovebox with a door enhanced by woodgrain and a
built-in digital clock. Overhead is a tight felt headliner in
excellent condition. Back in the carpeted trunk you'll find a full
spare tire and a set of black rubber floormats to keep that soft
carpet looking nice.
If you're looking for an older luxury cruiser in very good
condition with low miles and great looks then this New Yorker Fifth
Avenue is just what the doctor ordered! This car rides like
floating on a cloud and it's available for a price that won't break
the bank. Don't let this one get away, give our friendly staff a
